Hi all,
I have a 2020 2500 SO diesel with build date of 1/20. I bought it used certified preowned from a dealer this summer after verifying there were no outstanding recalls but got curious when I saw mention of the CP4 recall, which I assumed would apply to my truck. After looking at some pics of the CP4 units, it appears I have a different pump altogether. The question now is what I have and what is it's reliabilty. I am also curious how I ended up with it. The truck came out of CA so maybe that had something to do with it? Anyway, any help would be appreciated.

Reason for the interest is that we will be going on a 7500 mile trip towing an RV through some of the remotest areas of Canada and Alaska next summer. The powertrain warranty is good for a few more years but if things failed in some of the places we are going it would be a major deal to get the truck where it could be repaired.

Thanks,
Guy

That is the pump that took place of the recalled CP4.2, you are safe. It is a CP-ISB21S3 which has proven to be bulletproof so far. Enjoy your trip!

Well excellent, thank you. It must have been replaced under warranty prior to the recall.

As @flan mentioned, you have the updated fuel pump (aka the CP3 or CP-ISB21 as it's stamp states). It's functionally identical to the CP3 pump, although there are allegedly tweaks to the internals depending on who you ask. I'm of the mindset that the new model number is purely so they can avoid any further lawsuits and maintain some amount of plausible deniability, but that's another convo.

It was prob replaced under the recall, or the previous owner swapped it over. Either way, I wouldn't be too concerned.
