So my quote on a truck (à la carte) that I don't yet have is as follows for Xpel installed:
I need to make my choices and get back to schedule in Lex. KY.

Hood alone - $800
Bumper & Grille Surrounds - $1000
(or Whole Front Clip (doghouse + Bumper/Surrounds + Mirrors)) - $2500
Fender flares (all 4) - $400
Rockers + Door bottoms (crease down) - $800
Door Sills - $300
Door Cups - $100
Headlights/Fogs - $100

He put together a "total" of: front bumper, grille, hood, rockers, door bottoms, door cups, headlights, full flares = $3,200

I also have a quote of a 5yr Ceramic ONYX that includes paint correction, and coating of exterior, interior, glass, & wheels for $1750

These trucks cost a fortune. I often see posts stating things like " I wash my truck once or twice yearly"
No way I would wash that infrequently, and no way I'd NOT add PPF to the front of these trucks if it had painted bumper/grill. My point being is : clearly we all are different in how we care for our trucks, and what if any damages and imperfections we are willing to live with.
I paid less than your quote. I prob have $1500 into full front bumper, hood about 12-15" up, rockers, flares, headlights, door cups, door edges all done in xpel ultimate...so worth it.

I take very good care of my trucks but use them as intended. I wash it weekly but don't obsess over it. The price to prevent damage looks a little excessive for me. I have a few body shops that charge about 2-250 per panel for paint. I have a sport on order and when it comes, I'll probably just have the bumper done as it is most likely to get stone chips.

Wow. Not around me...I couldn't get anything painted for $250!
I might obsess a bit when they are new but as they age, I accept they cannot stay flawless. I do however do everything in my power to prevent damage within reason. PPF quote the OP posted was super high. $1500 I paid IMO was worth every cent.

what did you get done for 1500? That seems like a reasonable price. I'm trying to figure out how much of the hood they are doing for 800 bucks. I looked at a few DIY kits for the bumper and they were like $180. That seems reasonable.

As for getting body work done, ask for the cash price. Just got my tailgate done for 300 and that included a new cap. Went to a few of the larger shops and was quoted 7-800. That is the insurance company price, lol. Checked a few smaller shops that do nice work and told them I was paying cash. Turned out great. Did the same with my paintless dent repair. Insurance estimate was 5500 for hail damage. I waited until winter time when the paintless dent guy was not busy. Got it all fixed for 1100 and it looks great. This is why its not all that appealing for me to do the paint protection.

Thanks for the tip...next time I will ask for cash price and see.

I got the entire front bumper, rockers to the belt line, flares, door cups, the grill/surround, and they did the hood from the leading edge about 12-15" up. So basically the part of the hood that sees impacts from stones, salt, etc.
After 30k miles and one year of ownership I am very pleased with how my truck looks. No way it would be this damage free without it. I am on the highway every day

I think it depends on what you do with the truck… also my truck is black so keeping it clean is an endless task, also i work my truck with almost no down time to wash it

I know me personally I would pay $250 to have the hood done. I would not pay more than that but I know others do.

I had Xpel installed before I would drive it, this is my 3rd Ram with painted bumpers, if you don’t PPF the front bumper it is chipped horribly in a few weeks.
The shop installed:
-Front bumper in 10 mil Xpel
-Full hood, front fenders, headlights, door sills, front and back fender flares in 8 mil
-Removed the factory PPF in front of the duals and installed 10 mil on the entire lower panel in front of the duals
-Tinted front windows, back windows and rear windows with ceramic tint
Truck looks awesome and no stress on chips which is well worth the cost of $3700
I had the areas paint corrected before the PPF was installed. They will paint correct the remain parts next and ceramic coat.

It pays for itself. Last week a delivery driver backed into the front bumper of my truck while it was parked and I was unaware. Dashcam caught everything. If it hadn’t been for the PPF the whole bumper would need to be re and re and a significantly larger cost then the $450 to replace the PPF. Dashcam footage allowed me to recoup the entire cost to replace the PPF too…

The dashcam footage would have made the bumper repair/replacement a go as well, regardless of the PPF. I am not against PPF or Ceramic but I did opt out when my truck was new. The cost was just too much IMO and stone chips can still happen with PPF.

My truck has 8k miles at 9 months and has one tiny spec on the white front bumper. Hell, the kids will trash the back seat and scuff things up long before you need a repaint of the bumper!

I also heard about a guy my cousin knows that had his windshield chipped when the pebble launched by a Prius bounced off the PPF on his hood. Now you want to talk problems and expense....

Last paragraph was a joke BTW.

For the cheese some are talking about here I can buy a new offroad bumper from Chassis Unlimited and still have enough money to have the detailer up the street pimp my paint out every 6 months for the next several years. My mobile guy will paint and fix my bumper for under $300. I will likely bang it up offroad anyway.

I appreciate the opinions. I had always opted out for every car/truck I have owned and there have been quite a few. This truck is about the cost of my 1st home. I cared for that too as best I could.

This was the only Xpel dealer within a 3hr drive (this one only an hour). My commute is about 90mi. round (less than daily w/ Covid) and my last and current truck has taken some hits recently. Was hoping to prevent and lessen the maintenance work.

I think these prices are really market based. Maybe bigger markets are lower, or maybe the work is compromised. I have not idea. It's all new to me.

And remember the Xpel wont protect you from everything like when a deer gets a little to friendly

Yep not cheap but I learned the hard way with this specifically, you get what you pay for. The shop that did it for me was a really high end shop. if you look at the truck, you can barely tell it it has PPF it is done so well. Also considering it is a 100k truck, what’s $3700 in the grand scheme of things?

I can repaint half the truck for that price... that's a pass for me but hey.... to each their own.

Everyone has their own level of tolerance of what they can deal with, I for one don’t want my truck chipped to death which happens in less than a month where we live, so agree it’s like you said, to each their own! If you have heartburn with that cost you would have really not liked the dually they had in there with mine and were putting PPF on the bed sides along with everything else I had done- $6700 and it was a Chevy to boot!
