Hello all,

My name is Jeff Young, I live in the Bay Area in California.

I am taking delivery of a new to me 2024 Ram 2500. This is the first diesel truck I've owned, and am really excited to learn even more about them.

Welcome!

Tips for diesel happiness.....drive it often, don't idle it, use quality diesel, change your oil, oil filter, air and fuel filters often (6K or 50% on the service indicator for the oil and fuel filters IMHO) and ignore that DPF gauge.

Best!

That’s a waste of good oil, filters, time and money.

Fuel filters that are changed too often have lower overall effectiveness than filters changed at the standard interval. Cat even published a white paper on not changing filters before they were due around 20 years ago.

Change them when they are due, based on time (especially under warranty if annual miles are low) or miles.

Just drive it ! Kick it up to high idle If you need to run it longer than 5 min . Just turn on the cruise and hit set and your idle goes up to 1k . You can change your oil and filters whenever you like . If pissing away your money needlessly is your idea of maintenance you will have plenty of company . Just go by your manual for maintenance and everything will be fine . Welcome to the world of HD Rams .
