Mud Tire With Decent Highway Manners??

I had 35" Toyo RTs on my previous truck and I'll never own them again. I wasn't happy with their traction in the mud, wet rocks, wet on road, or on/off road snow performance. They also didn't last very long, seemed to get warped easily, and had a hard time balancing. The only good thing about them in my opinion was how they looked.

Had two sets of BGF T/A Ko2 which I quite enjoy. It's been a while since I've had a set but I'm playing around with buying another set, especially since they now offer a 39x13.5x17 which I'm pretty confident I can get onto the truck without much trimming. I recall them being capable offroad but I had purchased too wide a tire that I put on my jeep so it floated a bit too much in the snow. Didn't have that issue on my blazer since I had purchased a skinny set.

Currently running Falken AT3Ws. They are super quiet on road, and their snow performance has been pretty great. Haven't been super stoked about their mud performance though. I've had some issues balancing them as well which hasn't lead to great feelings on them. I may end up buying a set of summers and keeping the Falkens for winter use since they have been by far my favorite winter tire since moving to new england.

I love the question about mud tires (MT) and you get responses about AT Duratracs and others.

Anyways, the Cooper STT Pro is a great mud tire, wears better than expected and has traction off road that is second to none and equaled by few. It's also one of the "coolest" looking. I ran them on my JK in 37X13.5-18 since 2015. Did not matter if on the highway trips, the mountains of western Colorado or rock crawling reds at Rausch Creek... they are phenomenal tires.

This was my second choice but the red letters of the grabbers drew me in like a mosquito to a bug zapper... That and I had read a few reviews that the sipes were not full depth so after a little wear they would be useless on ice/snow.

I do like Cooper tires, as they have done me well in the past. When doing research, I found some Cooper Evolution MTs. They look to be about 20% cheaper than the STT Pros, and I would love to know why. I hear they are a fairly new tire, though.

All new tires are cheap when they first hit the market. That’s how they get them in peoples hands.

For what's it's worth. I'm running some stt pro right now. Not impressed at all. They are noisy , even for an MT. Wear terrible. And take a ton of weight to balance.
Don't know about other coopers. But these are half way to keeping me from looking at them to be honest.

So those Kenda tires I posted about earlier came in and I mounted, balanced, and installed them on the truck today. Gotta say the pictures online do them no justice, they are as close as you could get to a mud tire without it actually saying m/t on the wall.

Much more aggressive than I imagined. However they balanced pretty easily and their road manners are good, had them up to 70mph and they tracked real nice no wander or anything like that. They do have a very mild knobby tire buzz going down the road, but it's not bad at all.

Also they were really reasonable, I got these 35x12.5R17's from Walmart, $219 per tire and free shipping.

Unfortunately their country of origin is Vietnam, but it's still better than China
