motor oil for 6.4 hemi 2019

I run the penz pictured above that says SRT on the bottle and the mopar filter. I’m about to change my oil for the second time here soon.

amsoil guys are funny

Im using PUP, easy enough to get on amazon. The mopar filters are garbage so i am getting Wix XP off rock auto for about $6 a piece.
What do you dislike about the mopar filter? What makes the wix better? I’m about to do my 2nd oil change. I have a mopar filter on the shelf but they’re cheap I would switch if convinced.

The regular mopar oil filter uses paper media, I would trust it short term but not for extended interval like what the factory advises. The SRT supposedly is quite a bit better. I feel better running synthetic media in my filter, I trust it better to hold up over time and to filter more particulates. Wix XP isn’t the greatest either, but is good bang for the buck. Other problem is that manufacturers change things all the time so you have to check every once in a while to see who is making the best product at the time.

Toward the end of my intervals (I do 5000 ish miles intervals just under 30% oil life left) I get a tick for just a second or two at startup. Last time it went away immediately after the oil change and I expect that again. I may try a wix this go-round. Thanks.

Yeah, if you do, just make sure it is the XP. The wix lower tier filters aren’t much good. Kinda like Fram lower tier filters suck, but apparently their ultra version is one of the best out there

Boy!! that front crossmember sure does hold a LOT of oil in its nooks and crannies If you hurry that filter off. If you take the filter off before it’s finished draining, it easily overruns its little built in drain funnel.

i must have not been in a hurry last time i did this job. I don’t remember making a mess last time. Just crack the filter and let it drain slowly into its little drain funnel.

I use Mopar filter and Amsoil 0w40. Will switch to Amsoil filter when it is actually available.

I've got a couple of 5qt jugs of Mobile 1 0W40 left over from when I had a Mercedes a while back. Figgered I'd put that in the Ram when I do the first oil change. Just picked up a couple of the high end NAPA filters today.

I put Mobile 1 in at around 2600 miles. Didn't notice much change. That Hemi chirp is there though.....that's for damn sure.

Any notable change?

Some reported the engine quieting down after dumping the factory oil. I didn't notice anything either, was just curious about your findings.
