I’m positive my intercooler is toast so I’m checking to see if there is any real value in replacing it with something like a Mishimoto unit.
If so, how much should get replaced? They appear to sell all the tubes and such for the complete system.
Bone stock with no plans to change that.
Looking for more durability and/or efficiency than OEM. A better way to look at it would be as the best return on investment.
Since the purpose of the intercooler is just to provide cooler air to the turbo I’m not sure their claims translate into real world improvement.
Aren’t the OEM pretty stout, as in durability? And they are designed to work with the trucks. Mishimoto may shed some weight but that may show up long term in the durability dept. In a race type application where the sum of all aftermarket money spent counts….maybe. Not sure. Just chatting.
I tend to agree with that. But being from 'Merica where "some's good, more's better" I automatically wonder if I should replace it with OEM or an aftermarket part that might offer some advantage.
The truck goes in to the repair shop tomorrow
I would probably stick with OEM unless it’s more expensive than the Mishimoto. Without other mods you really won’t get any benefits to the aftermarket one.
If I stick with OEM, insurance is paying for it, if I go aftermarket I imagine I'd have to pay any difference.
Just watched a couple YouTube videos and see it is physically larger than OEM. Don't see how that could fit properly since everything is already so tightly packed under the hood.
