Micro Switch in Tow Mirrors

Mabey the wrong forum for this question, but while runing jumpers for the Blind Spot indicator I noticed there is a micro switch that is activated when you flip up the Tow Mirrors, does anyone know what that switch is for?

The control switch changes directions (left-right-up-down) when flipped up or down to make adjustments intuitive.

Is it for that? Or is it to know when the mirrors are flipped up so it can readjust to the saved setting of the mirror position?

I havent fully tried it, but someone posted in a different thread that you can save the mirror position for when they are down and when they are up.

I don't have memory functions, so I think it is to change the switch orientation so up is always up.
