Stellantis, the parent company of RAM, has expressed significant concerns regarding the newly imposed 25% tariffs on vehicles imported from Mexico and Canada. The company argues that these tariffs could disproportionately affect manufacturers with substantial production in North America, such as Stellantis, which produces approximately 39% of its vehicles in these countries. The chairman of Stellantis has urged President Trump to maintain tariff-free imports from Mexico and Canada, emphasizing that such tariffs could harm North American manufacturers and inadvertently benefit competitors from Asia and Europe.

In response to the tariff threat, Stellantis is considering adjusting its manufacturing and sourcing strategies. The company is exploring potential changes to its factory and supplier networks to mitigate the impact of the tariffs, though no specific decisions have been announced.

The proposed tariffs have raised broader concerns about their potential impact on the U.S. automotive industry, including increased vehicle prices and disruptions to established supply chains. Economists predict that the tariffs could lead to significant price increases for consumers, with full-size trucks potentially seeing a $10,000 rise in cost. Additionally, there are worries about retaliatory measures from Canada and Mexico, which could further strain the automotive sector.

Given these developments, it's advisable to stay informed about the evolving trade policies and their implications for vehicle pricing and availability. For the most accurate and up-to-date information regarding your RAM heavy-duty truck order, consider reaching out directly to your dealership or Stellantis customer service.

Yup. But what would you prefer, keep making all our stuff in other countries? Or would you rather your shiny new truck be made in AMERICA by AMERICANS?? I suppose we could just keep kicking the can down the road but Trump is actually doing something about it. I could go on for an hour listing all the reasons why this is long past due, necessary, and a very good idea for America. But yeah, theres gonna be some adjustment pains to get the job done, which is why so many spineless turds before Trump wouldn't ever do anything but keep shipping our companies, our products, and our jobs to other countries. I'm not excited about some higher prices but I'm willing to deal with it in the short term if its good for my country. And it is.

I would love to have cofadence of the American worker. The demographic make up of who goes to work is radically different than let's say 50 years ago.
Physical skills that once allowed many young pepol, especially men, to go to the manufacturing sector has declined in demand.
I work heavy construction and am shocked how skilled labor has declined in this country. It is nearly impossible to find any one that wants a hard days work anymore. My hat is off to the skilled factory worker from the 50s.
In Mexico, you screw up you get fired.,no union to perfect you. You have a job because you earned it. I agree we need to build here more than any other country, but give the auto industry time to build factories and find the needed labor to build a american built vehicle.

If given time, history seems to indicate they will just build factories elsewhere. Forcing the issue seems to be worth a try at this point. But I doubt the tariffs will last long enough to make any real difference. They are, IMO, just part of the Art of the Deal.

Once we become the 51-55th states (we are too big to be one single state) it will be backed off all around I bet. Look at the gaza strip he said he will clean it up and rebuild now the arab government is saying they will do it, I'm sure that was the plan all along.

Trump is playing 4D chess while the rest of the world is still playing checkers

The way I see it, Stellantis (and FCA before them, and whoever was before them) has priced trucks built in Mexico at the same competitive rates as trucks built in the US for decades.

Ford/GM/Ram trucks all have MSRP's that are very close to each other when comparing options. The difference for Stellantis is that their labor rates and costs for building these trucks are significantly lower, considering almost the entire truck, including a good portion of it's powertrain, are built in Mexico. When I was doing my Thuren parts upgrade, every part I took off the truck (shocks, springs, sway/track bars, etc) all had "Made in Mexico" on the OEM part tags.

GM trucks are built in the US, including the Duramax engine. My last GM truck was built in Flint Michigan. The engine was built in Moraine Ohio. Workers there get paid livable wages for Michigan and Ohio. I suspect the folks building trucks for Stellantis in Saltillo get paid livable wages for Saltillo - which are likely somewhere around %20 of what UAW workers up north get paid (if that...)

I notice that when Ram wants to move trucks, it's fairly easy for them to offer manufacturer discounts of $8-10k right off the bat. The dealers often take a few extra thousand off. I have never in my life had anywhere near that kind of discount when buying GM or Ford trucks. My last GM I bought using a GM supplier rebate code, and I paid $1100 over invoice, which was about $4k under MSRP.

When I decided to buy our Ram dually, they were offering $10k off MSRP from Stellantis, and my local dealer took another $3500 off. I paid less than $45k for my truck with an MSRP of $58k. I've never got that kind of deal on Ford or GM's (or anything, for that matter)

Stellantis can actually sell these things at bargain basement prices because their build costs are so low. I actually think they could eat the entire tariff if they wanted to, and still make profit selling these things.

They won't. They'll fix the prices to what the market will bear right along side GM and Ford.

We’re just going to charge what they charge us is what I understand? If they lower our tariffs we will lower theirs is that correct?

Looks like the big 3 just got a month delay on the tarrifs. Hopefully they get all our trucks sitting in storage out to us soon.

Ram should move the facilities to Mississippi or Alabama and stop paying foreigners or union labor. All these problems are fix by destroying the unions who demand high pay for unskilled labor who suck at the simplest task. All the foreign owned cars being manufactured in the south without union labor proves everyone can win. Well made vehicles, fair priced labor, good jobs and reasonable priced cars and trucks for the public.

Don’t be fooled by yer MADE IN AMERICA vehicles … many are merely assembled in US. Truckload after truckload of components cross the 49 everyday both ways! Just remember back to the “good old days of Covid “ when governments forked up the delivery systems. Hmmm we can’t build vehicles. Can’t we all just get along … or get ready to bend.

Just cause I don't know. How much and how long does it takes to build a vehicle assembly plant?

I have no idea but Toyota, Mazda, Honda, Nissan, Subaru, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Hyundai, and Kia could tell you what it cost to build in the USA.

Ram builds the RHO at Sterling Heights, Michigan plant and can still price it better than a comparable Raptor so I'm not really sympathetic to them building the HDs in Mexico.

Well …. I ordered a 3500 LWB crew Longhorn/ loaded was placed 1 July 2025. It was done in 3 weeks. Sitting in storage lot scheduled to ship out 8 August. Now it’s completely off the schedule. Dealer says it may be a week or a month before it ships. Dealer says something about drug smuggling and border crossing as possible issue . I don’t know, but the paint can cure in my driveway…..ya follow!
