Made it nearly 22 hours with the new truck before the rear camera decided to stop working.

My backup camera quit working less than 22 hours after purchase. My 360 degree view is now 270 degrees. Anyone else had this failure?
 
The view from the CHMSL camera is crap compared to the others, but so far everything is working...
 
I was reading on the Gen 5 forum that this has been a pervasive problem with the 1500s. Evidently part of the issue is software related, some of it is intermittent issues and some is specifically hardware related. I am hoping this is not an indication of what I can expect. My 2018 was not as fun to drive, but it was solid.

I took the truck in today. They checked the software and everything was at the latest version. They are now ordering a replacement backup camera which I tend to agree is the issue. Unlike other reports I have read my screen shows black - but with the backup guidance lines and it does not display any error message. They estimate 3-4 days to receive the camera and it will then go back to the dealer for replacement. Hopefully that solves the issue.
 
After waiting a week for them to call me and let me know th camera was in, I decided to call the dealership. After spending nearly an hour trying to get to someone in service I was finally able to leave a message for the service manager. He called me back in 30 minutes and told me the camera was in. He then called me back an hour later and informed me that they had ordered the tailgate latch and that it usually comes with a camera. This on did not. So they would have to order the camera. They expect it to arrive Friday and can install it next week.
 
I had an issue one day where the rear camera just stopped working and then the next day all of a sudden it started working.
2 months later it just started acting up again, now I’m hoping tomorrow it starts working again. I hope this isn’t an on going problem...
 
My right side view camera(under the mirror)failed, and was replaced.
 
That’s disheartening, some sites I visit people have no issues and others, the problems are rampant, like they don’t take time on build quality in good ol Mexico. I corrected my alignment, especially the caster angle was dangerously off. I ended up correcting it with a tape measure and some trial and error and nailed it far better than the dealer did. It makes me wonder about the folks they hire at the dealership, I’m not sure I trust them working on my truck anymore.
 
My rear view camera was black one morning a few weeks in. When I got home, I opened up the tailgate and did something with the wiring connections (i think unplug and replug) and it has worked fine ever since. I'm hesitant to drop my truck at the dealer after it took an overnight stay to correct a loose sharkfin antenna not long after taking delivery. Good luck getting yours back soon.

Sometimes my rearview camera will have a delay when I shift it into reverse. The most anything thing though was when I went to back up, a car drove behind setting off the backup alert warning and it wouldn't turn off even after I continued to drive. I eventually pulled over and shut the truck off and restarted. It continued. Finally I disconnected the battery and that solved it.
