Lost power steering

I bought a 2021 ram limited as a retirement gift to myself a few months ago . Then today going down the highway power steering went out and almost lost control. Had it towed to nearest ram dealer. Frustrating and no help getting a loaner truck .
 
Agreed. That sucks. And it sucks that this experience is what brought you to the forum.

But hopefully they'll get your issue straightened out and get you back on the road.

Once you do get a resolution, please come back and let us know about it. I do recall another post some time back about a similar situation, but nothing recent and clearly it didn't come up easily in your search prior to posting, so having details for the future would be a good thing.

Dealer notified me today he found problem but will talk to me tomorrow about it. So let’s see what he says!
 
Never having lost power steering, I don't know but say you were doing 80 down the highway and you came into a curve assuming you have power steering and you didn't, seems like it may be an Oh Chit kinda moment.
 
Just an update about my truck . The power steering module failed and it’s on back order . There not sure when they will get one !!!! I spent over $70,000 for this truck and now I don’t know when I will get it back . Ram will only offer $40 a day for me to get my own rental and that is a small little car. I can’t drive little cars because of my medical condition. I think I made a mistake changing from Ford to ram.

At speed is when you don’t need power steering and you wouldn’t know it’s missing. Not having power steering in a parking lot is where it sucks.

maybe he has adaptive steering or something else considering the price point he mentioned and also mentioned a module. That could be a curve ball, I imagine.

Was changing lanes in traffic and it happened . I didnt totally lose control . Wheel stiffened and luckily I didn’t panic . I just muscled the wheel to emergency lane.

I apologise if I’m complaining to much . I will just keep the information about the update on the truck and how it might help someone else with this issue .

Well, at least they know what the issue is and even though it sucks that you'll have to wait for the part, you didn't get sent out the door with a "can't recreate the issue" dismissal.

And I fully understand the little car situation. I can still manage if it absolutely has to be done, but it is definitely a lengthy process getting into or out of one these days, so I avoid at all costs.

I guess the dodge dealership needs a new power steering part and it’s on back order and they have no idea when they will get the part. If I can just get a loaner truck to use I don’t mind waiting for it to get fixed . I just bought this is December and it’s just disappointing and on top of it I can’t even get a loaner truck to accommodate me.

Ram customer service ( Amanda) was extremely helpful and understanding. She’s helping me with a truck to rent and expedited the part which was the( rack in pinion)and power steering module is connected to it . I have to hand it to ram they really listened and are being so helpful thank you Amanda and ram customer service!!
