Looking to purchase-I got it

Had the funniest encounter with a Ram dealer today, I've been in contact with a dealer who had a Tradesman Powerwagon in transit, the Truck should be at the dealership this week. When we started talking price because I wanted to put a deposit on it, the dealer told me
" oh no we can't move off the MSRP, Tradesman Powerwagons are rare and they only made a few of them and now they ran out of parts."

If you get a Tread Lightly membership, you get 1% below dealer invoice guaranteed. I ordered a Tradesman Power Wagon and got about 2% below invoice plus incentives. The truck is in "D" status so hopefully it gets built.

I ended up going to a dealer more local to me, they laughed and said i should have went there first. They are looking to see if they can find one for me to transfer, if not I will just order one.

Someone might dispute this, but (I had a guy) the invoice price is roughly 7.5% below MSRP. That is for each line item in the build sheet, but not the destination fee, TTL, document fees, etc. The dealer did not want to budge much at all off MSRP for the PW. I sat down with the salesman, I gave him a printed build sheet from the Ram website, he worked it up and printed the actual build sheet, I did the math, and wrote it on the paper to get the invoice price. I then took 2% off of that, rounded it down a little, wrote that number down, circled it, explained how I would be irritated to have to join Tread Lightly again, pulled out $1k in cash for a deposit, initialed the offer, and it was accepted. They gave me this price plus whatever incentives there are in the month of the final signing. That could be nothing so don't know.

I have done better in the past on negotiations, but in this market I felt pretty good about it. I was running out of time and knew it would be about 3 months to get the truck in.
