I am thinking about getting JScan and I download it and I’m looking at the demo.

There is a Light Load Inflation Pressure for both front and rear tires.

I wonder if this would allow one to have both a max GVW tire pressure setting and a lower tire pressure setting for empty driving?

You cannot set both max and light pressures. You must use JScan when your tire pressures need to change. Just set the max load pressure at whatever you want. Set the light load to 0. I run 35 psi in my rears (dually) when not loaded using JScan. When towing my heavy fifth wheel, I set the pressure to 65 psi. Takes five minutes to change it. Best way is to scale the truck and use tire load/inflation tables to determine the pressure you should be running. See https://jscan-docs.readthedocs.io/en/latest/general/tpms.html#changing-tpms-thresholds

It was nice back in the day when Ram actually had a “Light Load” button from the factory. It was only for adjusting the rear pressure but let’s be honest, the rear makes the biggest difference.

Thanks for the link!!

In fact since I am getting ready to tow my fifth wheel, I just used JScan to change my front tires from 65 to 70 and rear duals from 35 to 65. Those are the pressures indicated on the door post. Took all of 10 minutes. Tip: Air up/down the tires before using JScan to change the parameters.

Do the changes not take effect if the pressure is above or below the new desired set point?

When I did it the other way around I got an UNDER inflated message even though the EVIC show the correct pressures. It eventually went away. Just simpler to inflate tires first.

Did you convert to TPMS? Or is that standard on 3500’s in Canada?

Why Chrysler chose to set the heavy trucks to TPIS is a mystery. I know that TPMS is not legally required but it’s much more useful.

Meh, I am glad my 3500's have had TPIS over TPMS. I'm constantly varying my tire pressure and always updating TPMS would be a PITA.

For some folks TPMS is better. It would better if we could toggle back and forth thru the EVIC or UConnect.

That would be ideal. However I only need to do this four times a year

How long did this take to reset? I did not inflate to above the stock psi prior to adjusting it in jscan to 55 psi in the rear. I now have a low pressure alert. I reverted the changed back to stock (80) and inflated into normal ranges (74) and it says “inflate to 80”. I can’t get the TPMS light to shutoff and the two rears are red still.

It won’t go off until you inflate to 80, just like it says.

Yep I much prefer TPIS I changed my 19 to that as I am like you and changing my pressures often. Especially with the plow (1050 lbs)and ballast weight (840 lbs) getting used and removed if im going on long trips.

I aired them back up to 80 and the light indeed went off. I towed my fifth wheel and now I’d like to air back down. So I left them at 80 psi and changed the max load psi to 55. Aired them down to 60 and the TPMS light is on and it indicates “inflate to 55”. Am I being dumb here or….
