Hey all, I currently own a 2012 Ram 1500 sport that has only seen part of one winter, and is garage kept all the time. I am keeping it, but...

On July 18th I ordered my new work truck, 2019 Ram Bighorn 3500 reg cab long box with the Cummins HO. Has Level 2 equipment package, safety group, bucket seats, snow cheif, 5th wheel prep, bed group, power outlet, etc.

My question is how long does it take before the dealer can find out what the VIN will be? And when you have it is there a way I can see what's the status of the truck is? I dont want to keep asking the dealer to check on that for me.

He said it would be about 3 months before it arrives, what kind of wait times have you experienced?

Welcome!

I ordered on 3/31 and delivered to dealer on 5/20, I picked it up on 5/25.

I received a VIN rather quickly (a couple of days)... it seems to depend on when the dealer actually orders the truck.
As far as tracking, the chat on MOPAR.com is ok, but it is very hit/miss on how descriptive they are... the dealer should be giving you updates as well, I would ask for build codes..

Here is list of build codes posted by @DevilDodge Build Codes

Build sheet should show up once you've gone through D status and it is built.... window sticker won't show up until it is about to ship.

This is the link for the build sheet: https://www.dodge.com/webselfservice/BuildSheetServlet?vin=
You need to put in your VIN after the = sign, and the letters of the VIN need to be in ALL CAPS.

I ordered mine on 6/15 and its arrived at my local rail yard, but not yet at the dealer. I can pull up my window sticker using that link and the VIN, but cannot see the truck in any inventory both on ramtrucks.com and my dealer's webpage. Anyone know why I cant see it as "in transit"?

Welcome! I've got no idea on the wait time as I bought mine off a lot, but I would hate to be the one waiting for certain!

Only MOPAR and the dealer have that information... it is not available on any public webpage as far as anyone has been able to find.

Vehicles used to be able to be tracked. But FCA cracked down on that.

We still wonder why they won't do it for customers theirselves. It is pretty straightforward, but guess it is their secret.

Maybe it is their way of trying to get the dealers to be more customer focused. Ha.

Thanks everyone, I didn't think there was anything like that. I will just hit up the dealer once in a while.

What is the average time for delivery? 3 months seems like a long time, I'm sure he is just telling me that so that I am not disappointed if he says 10 weeks sorta thing.

i was wondering about those abbreviations myself....thanks for those links!

Just start a chat on the ram website and give them your VIN and ask for current status.

Sold units won’t be listed on Ram Trucks site and based on your timeline it should be there within next 10-12 days. It’s a nail biter last days, but I believe it will show up by 8/15.
