Jscan Question

I have a 2022 6.7. I’m using Jscan with OBDLinkMX+ and a security bypass cable. My goal is to be able to perform a forced regen. I’ve found the location in the menu, but am unable to do a forced regen. In the screenshot, I thought I would hit the icon and it would prompt for a regen, but it does nothing. What am I doing wrong?

It should tell you what the parameters are for completing the regen. Truck has to be at operating temperature, in park and the emergency brake set. They recommend lowering the spare tire. I don’t remember exactly what all it says but it has been a year since I did it to mine.
I have a different dongle than the one you have. I have a VLinker MC+ but it should work since it is doing it through the app.

Thx! It didn't give me any parameters, so I'll have to look at it a little closer.

Following closely here.

I’m looking to do one on my pickup here when I do my service.

I did mine right before I did an oil change. The previous regen went from zero to regen almost as soon as I got on the highway carrying my wife to a dr appointment so I couldn’t just keep driving. I dropped her off and it quit regening until I was able to make it back to the highway. I decided to do the forced regen after that.
I have only had timed regens since.

I recently went from consistent 24 hour regens, to 10-12hr regens with zero parts or driving habit changes. Same fuel source as well.

Makes a guy wonder exactly what is happening in some of these systems.

It’s scary how sensitive they are.

I did another forced regen on my truck yesterday and it kept going for nearly an hour. I changed the oil and rotated the tires afterwards.

How do you like your VLinker MC+? I am thinking about getting one vs the more expensive OBD MX+.

I got the VLinker because I have an Apple phone and don’t have access to a different phone or laptop. That’s the same reason I went with JScan over alphaobd. Plus it was a little cheaper.

I would be using an Apple phone myself or my iOS tablet.

With the VLinker and JScan I have programmed a key fob, added remote start, adjusted the TPMS settings and installed some other options. From what I understand alpha OBD does some more things than JScan but I haven’t run up on anything yet that it wouldn’t do but I’m not really sure computer savvy so it must be pretty simple.

The MX+ also works with Apple.

That said, they are equivalent, both supporting both Android and iOS. I think the one thing you'll get with the MX+ is a license for "OEM-specific data add-ons" and it has all the Cummins PID's in the app. I really only use their app with it to clear codes that the others sometimes can't easily clear. I have both and keep them both connected through a splitter. The MX+ is on the bypass side for JScan or AlfaOBD, the MC+ is on the read only side for torque running on a tablet. For those with Android, the MC+ can be tricky to get connected.

JScan has a vehicle specific subscription like alphaobd but it’s $20 where A OBD is $49.

JScan is VIN specific and AlfaOBD is not. AlfaOBD is also 50% off for the "other" platform license. If you have either Android or Windows, you get the other half off. You just have to contact Alex. IIRC it was recommended to purchase the Android version first, then reach out for the Windows license. That said, I've emailed several times now trying to move mine to a different laptop and <crickets>.

I also am in the process of getting my tire size changed but something is screwy with it. When I first got it pulled up, it was showing 33.87” tire diameter so I changed it to 34” with JScan and after it changed, it showed 33.97”. With the JScan, it’s able to be adjusted in 1/4” increments, but evidently the module that controls this along with ABS works in mm’s. I’ve got the speedometer reading within 1 mph @ 60 mph with it set on 34.25” so I guess I need to go to 34.5” to get it to read correctly but the tire measures 34”. IDK

For anyone trying to correct their speedometer after changing tire size, I have what has been my experience. When I went to change the tire size, originally the app showed 33.87” for the 275/70-18 tires. I changed to 295/70-18, which according to Tire Size the 275’s measure 33.2” and 295’s measure 34.3”. Setting the tire size on the JScan app to 34.25” didn’t do it. Setting the tire size to 1” larger than the size it originally showed did the trick. Now the speedometer is dead on at 80 mph and everywhere in between. Just thought I’d pass along what I discovered with mine.
