It sounded like a large firecracker going off.

I have a 2019 2500 Laramie with Auto Level Rear Air Suspension (5900 miles). Last weekend I hooked up my travel trailer (Grand Design 315RLTS - 38 ft and 1065 lb tongue wt) using a Blue OX hitch with load distribution bars. I have done this numerous times before but this time it was , should I say explosive. The vehicle was off, I connected the trailer and jacked up the trailer to allow for easy connection of the load distribution bars (like I have done before). After connecting the bars and dropping the tongue wt back onto the truck's hitch, I started the truck. Within 10 seconds a loud bang occurred from the left rear area and the camper next to me said - sounds like you blew an airbag. Had a rough ride home and ran my BlueDriver scanner to find the following "Air Suspension Module Codes - C1526-79 (Left Rear Height Sensor Circuit : mechanical linkage failure), C15DA-00 Payload Limit Exceeded, C15E1-97 (Left Rear Air Spring Intake : Component or System Operation Obstructed or Blocked). Today it's at the Ram Dealership to see how to fix.

So wanted to see if anyone has had air suspension failure such as this. I was NOT over wt as the report indicated since the Trailer tongue wt was listed at 1065 lbs and I was nowhere near this load. Also does anyone have a procedure (truck on/off, Auto Level Air Suspension normal/ bed lowered, etc) they use when connecting wt distribution bars. I can not see what I did wrong (as per the manual) so wanted to get this forum's expertise to weigh in on this issue.

I always set Bed Lowering on when hitching up to disable the air leveling until I'm done.

I hope you get your truck fixed soon.

Thanks for the reply... The dealer indicated it would be covered under warranty :)..

Since the Owners Manual mentions nothing about "proper" hookup and disconnect, I dug around trailer forums and Ram Forums and found a number of different scenarios.
1. Leave the truck running so the auto leveling knows the wt being added and adjusts
2. Set the truck in Alt Trailer Height before connecting or disconnecting.
3. Turn on Bed Lowering

You would think Ram would elaborate a bit in the manual on the "right" way to connect or disconnect a load when you have auto air suspension.

#2 will not work without a load.
