Is there any way to force the CAD to shift on these trucks through software like alfaobd?

Bare with me. I ran into a circumstance a year ago where I buggered up a wheel speed sensor cable. Once the ABS decided it lost comms to that sensor it faulted a bunch of stuff. End result is that even with a manual T case, the CAD wouldn't shift.

There should be a way to force a bit change.

I must apologize,. My background is more to industrial PLCs where you can do such things.

Looks like it has a shift collar like an old jeep with vacuum shift cad. I’ve opened them up and slid the collar over and used the fork to hold it in a pinch when 4wd was lost due to vacuum leak. On my yj I deleted cad by installing a new long side shaft from a non cad axle

Here is an exploded view I found. Hope this helps.

I can’t comment on any computer stuff or warning lights.

Yeah on my 01 2500 I deleted the CAD using a Perm-Lok kit (made by Posi-lok) which just holds the collar in place.

I'd be tempted to do it again on this truck if possible....

I get it. I've been around these trucks long enough that you could just swap out the two piece axle shaft. and be done with it. Along with pulling the shift motor and sliding the collar over, ect. Nobody (that I know of) makes a CAD eliminator right axle shaft now days.

But there's got to be a way to force it to shift through the logic.

Not unless you are going to make a bypass switch direct to the CAD.

I have a passenger side inner axle shaft from an 02 non CAD axle on my 01 works great!
