Is it possible to have separate folders on USB media?

Recently got a 2020 Ram 2500 with the 8.4 UConnect/non Nav radio - when I use USB drives the separate music folders are not seen, and all songs just simply listed in a row. Has anyone used USB media and been able to have separate folders listed? I have a library of 1000's of songs stored in various genre folders, and simply don't want to scroll a long random song list.

Might want the load up an MP3 player and the maybe the Uconnect radio will read that differently?

Ugh,

So glad I just use my phone (+128GB SD) and on that I use Media Monkey (across all my devices and media server) to organize and sync everything.

I have all of my files separated by artist in folders and that's how they appear, but I'm not sure if they do that because of the folders or because of the ID3 tags in the MP3s. I haven't done extensive testing, it just came up the way I organize them first shot so I didn't think much of it.

Thanks all - I'll look into Media Monkey and also maybe a separate mp3 player

I always run mine in shuffle mode. Everything's in folders by band, and then by album. But I never really care. If it's something I don't like, it doesn't go in my collection anyway. No christmas crap. No hip hop. No rap. No Nickelback.

Absolutely no Nickelback! So yours is working with nested folders? That is great news.

Yes. You don't normally see the folders, and if you're listening in sequence it will skip to the next folder when it plays the last song in a folder. You can see the folders through the browsing / search menu at some point, but I never use that. In random / shuffle mode, it just jumps between songs in all folders, treats them all the same. It's not an ideal system if you want to listen to specific albums only, or in a specific order.

I would also recommend that if your Uconnect includes an SD card slot in the media hub, use that instead of a USB card. Mine has that, and I leave the card in all the time. Leaves the USB slots open for other stuff.
