IOS18 phone through CarPlay no longer working

Hello anyone else having an issue where CarPlay works but the iPhone Phone app is now gone and if you say hey Siri call such and such. It says I don’t have an app for that.

This happened after the update so it seems Uconnect needs an update

This is another example reinforcing why I have not yet updated my iPhone to IOS 18. I would try: 1) remove the iPhone from the truck through device manager. 2) remove the Carplay from iPhone bluetooth. 3) repeat the procedure to pair the iPhone to the truck Carplay.

No issues with mine. iPhone 14 Pro Max. I am running 18.1 beta.

Yeah, I’m on a 2021 2500 with a 12 inch running 18 and have the forget BT and car play same thing

The phone function just doesn’t work. It doesn’t show up as available in CarPlay and if I ask Siri to make a phone call, she just says she doesn’t have the app for that if I unplugged the phone, Siri works fine and obviously I can use the phone to make calls, but it’s broken. I use it every day so this is definitely an 18. I doubt it has to do with the iOS and probably more with Uconnect but seeing that 18.1 works I wonder if it worked for you with 18 and I would assume yes if you’re testing the beta

No issues with mine. iPhone 14 Pro Max. I am running 18.1 beta.

Mine works fine with IOS 18.

I guess I’ll have to wait and see if more people pop in here. It was pretty clear that morning it worked. I updated in the office went out to the car nope lol that’s how things go.

More searching today and found the problem. With IOS 18 you can make Face ID required on apps. Press and hold and you can enable/ disable this. I had this enabled as I’m testing this out and have it on lots of apps. Well if you have this enabled on the phone and messages app and any other app you use in CarPlay. They are disabled in CarPlay I till you remove the Face ID on that app.
