Back in ‘22, I got a Diesel Ram 2500 in the BigHorn package that came with the 12.1” Uconnect 5 w/ navigation infotainment screen.
This year, I upgraded my truck to the newer 2024 model but got a Tradesman with the 8.4” Uconnect 5 w/o nav system. Here’s the deal….
I still currently have my ‘22 BigHorn and really loved having the 12.1” system and I’d like to know if I could somehow swap the systems around to each truck….I’ll give you more details on each truck below….

2022 Ram 2500 BigHorn 6.7L Cummins TurboDiesel

-12.1” Uconnect 5 w/ navigation infotainment system
-5” digital cluster display (not the big digital one offered in Limited models”
-Rear and front parking sensors
-Premium Alpine Sound System
-Steering wheel audio control

2024 Ram 2500 Tradesman 6.7L Cummins TurboDiesel

-8.4” Uconnect 5 w/o navigation infotainment system
-Smaller cluster display, I believe it’s like 3”
-No front or rear parking sensors
-Regular sound system
-No steering wheel audio control

If it were at all possible to swap these systems around each truck, what would I need as in parts or would it not be possible and would I just have to get a new one for the “24?

I've been researching upgrading my Tradesman with the little 3" screen to an 8.4" system. From what I've read, you would need to move the whole center stack over (the radio module, bezel, etc) I think there is no compatibility issue between the 2022 and 2024 (but may be wrong) You'd take everything in the center of the bighorn dash, move it to the tradesman, and vice versa. The other issue to consider is the climate control knobs, if your bighorn has dual climate, the knob bezel won't be compatible between the two as the tradesman probably doesn't have dual climate.

The rest of the parts swap is beyond my wheelhouse. The parking sensors would require the bumper/valence to move. Probably need to change wiring and plug/pinouts on the chassis harness. You'd need AlfaOBD to enable the features in the BCM on the new truck, and disable them on the old truck (or the old truck will have warnings for missing sensors, etc) You'd probably be better off upgrading speakers than investing the time to move the 'alpine' speakers over - most of the 'alpine' ones I've seen say "made in china" on the back...

Also keep in mind that the bighorn, depending on what you want to do with it, will be worth less when you go to sell it. I haven't seen a bighorn with the little 3" radio, someone will likely ask what's going on there. I sell or trade in most of my vehicles to our local auto group, and they print out the original monroney sticker when they do their walk through for trade assessment.
