I have a 2020 ram 2500, Their are some knobs on the left side by the steering wheel that if i turn i can dim the inside lights. When it's night time and I dim the inside lights just a slighta mount, the unconnect screen goes from REALLY bright, to dim and when in android auto, the nav screen goes from a white background to a black background. Is this something I have to do manually, or is there a way to do it automatically? It seems weird that i have to super dim the guages to get the main screen to dim at night and show a black background instead of white, what am I doing wrong?

I believe by default A/A follows the vehicle's settings for day/night. There are some options within the "Developer Settings" of A/A that allow you to adjust a few things and I know one of those is to default to either day or night. There may be some more options as well.

The UConnect also has a setting for the dimming control that you can adjust.

The dimmer control you are using does indeed also impact it, but in my experience there isn't a great setting that I'm happy with when the headlights are on, vs DRL mode.

So their is a setting in the Uconnect that does say something along the lines of dim the screen when the headlights come on, but it doesn't do anything, the only way I can actually get the screen to dim at night is to manually adjust it using the slider. Is it possibly not working because it's a tradesman? I just assumed any trim that had the 8.4 connect had the same benefits as any other system with a uconnect 8.4, it's possible that's not true.

My apologies. I just made the assumption we were talking about the 12" as I know how it blinded me on night #1.

Looking online at the manual, you should have settings for the display brightness at day and night.

This is what I found too, i guess it should be adjusting the brightness, but it doesn't. Likely something not working right. That makes me feel better that i'm at least not a complete moron.
Thanks for taking the time to update me on that, i'll see what the dealer says.
