Couldn't find anything on this in a search. My 2024 2500 has the 12" Uconnect. I tend to drive with the display off most of the time.
This means the compass in the instrument panel doesn't work. If you start the truck with Uconnect off, the compass just shows "--" instead of N, S, E, or W.
If you turn Uconnect on, it immediately switches the instrument panel to NSEW as appropriate.
If you then turn Uconnect off, the compass continues to display NSEW for the rest of your drive, until you shut the truck off.
It's clearly meant to work and just a bug that it's not initializing properly, at least in my truck. Anyone else seeing the same thing?

I don’t have the same uconnect as you do but mine has a “screen off” button which is different than powering down the uconnect.

Are you turning the uconnect off or just turning the screen off? I wonder if that makes a difference or is worth trying

This is different from the 8.4 I had before. It's got a radio volume knob on the left, and center of that knob is a power button. The 8.4 didn't dim completely, just about 95%. This is full power off to Uconnect. No dimming feature except the dashboard dimmer.

Uconnect goes through a boot sequence when you turn it on, like you'd normally see with the 8.4 when you turn on accessories in your truck or start it. So you don't even get a phone connection if it's powered off, which is fine with me. Takes it about 10 - 15 seconds to connect to your phone when you turn it on. That makes sense. So those features also aren't available through the instrument cluster and steering wheel controls, too. Radio, phone calling, maps. If you have it all on, and turn it all off, those features go away, clearly powered within the entertainment computer system. Except the compass feed to the instrument panel, which continues to work even with Uconnect now shut down.

Everything else works normally. Except that it won't start the compass indicator on the instrument panel running until you start Uconnect.
