Ok I have a crazy idea, yes I am being childish with this thought but I think it would be cool if it works. I purchased a 2021 RAM 2500 with the Cummins, I love how quite and smooth the truck is but my old school logging background has me wanting the exhaust to sing a nice note when the exhaust brake is being used. I found some exhaust cutouts that open and close in 1 second so they are a lot faster then the traditional motor operated cutouts. These run on vacuum so my idea if it is possible is to have the exhaust cutout open any time the exhaust brake is being used, hoping to get a fun exhaust not like a old school Detroit ripping down the hill with full jake brake on. I realize it wont sound the same but you get the idea.
So to all of my fellow enthusiasts does anybody happen to know how the exhaust brake on our trucks work, as far as how it gets its signal, is there a way to obtain vacuum on a diesel I know the older trucks had a vacuum pump I am not sure on the new ones. Any comments or feedback would great, like I said this is just a childish idea but I think it sounds fun if its doable.

So as far as I know, you would not be able to modify the exhaust in any way in front of the SCR system. It will throw codes like crazy. If you were to completely delete the SCR system, you will definitely hear the EB. I had a 5" straight pipe on my 2013 and it sounded amazing. And a tuner will allow you to leave the EB on instead of having to switch it on every time you start the truck.

But the EB system is part of the VGT. IF, and I mean IF, you were able to construct some kind of exhaust cutout, you would have to catch the exhaust right off the downpipe.

No vacuum pump on the newer trucks,

The aftermarket offered pumps (pacbrake) for the 5.9's but nothing I'm aware of for the 6.7 since they starting putting them in 2007.5 and ran the VGT from day 1.
