I installed a Renogy DC to DC charger in my 2020 Ram HD. Although there are other posts with similar objectives I spent a little more time on detail including wiring details that may save others time or stimulate new ideas. Here is the You Tube link:

Good luck with the Renogy. I’ve had 3 of their 60A DC-DC chargers fail on me. Finally upgraded to the new Victron Orion XS when it came out last month.

Edit: Just watched your video and I’ve got two quick notes:

1. Be careful with the heat with it installed under the back seat like that. These things get very hot.

2. You might want to wrap your power cables underneath the truck in some kind of sheathing, like convoluted plastic tubing or something. The metal edges around the cargo bin in the picture below (a screenshot from your video) will eventually wear through the insulation and short it out.

Interesting placement, I’ve always seen the DC-DC chargers put as close to the batteries as possible so it ends up in the trailer. The run from the back seat to the trailer batteries will cause a voltage drop, which is why the OEM 7 pin charge rate is so low.

Thanks for your reviews. Good suggestion to protect the wire in that one section under the truck where you identified sharp edges. I will either use the plastic cover or heavy cloth tape to protect it there. That issue in that area actually crossed my mind while I was wiring it so appreciate your observation.
