I know this is info is all over the place, buried in different posts, so forgive me for starting a new post. I just wanted to have it in one place so someone can search and find it easily in the future. That said, what have you find the best tire pressure for these tires (yes, I am specifically talking about the Transforce A/T, but hopefully this info would apply to all tires of this size)? Are the pressures posted on the door a good starting point? How much is too low? How much for towing? How much when not towing?

The psi on the door jamb is listed for max capacity and axle ratings. For example, on my truck (rear axle) it indicates 65 psi which for the stock Transforce equals 3,195 lbs of load capacity and it matches the max rating of the axles (6,390 lbs). Manufactures don’t want to hassle with or assume liability for people incompetence so they just give you the max rating inflation number to cover their 6. My 2010 2500 had a “light load inflation” button on the center stack so I could lower the rear tire psi when unloaded and not get the warning light……………that went away.

All this to say, if you are unloaded, you can absolutely lower the psi on all 4 corners if desired. Hit a scale to find the actual weight on each axle then look up the tires you’re running on a load inflation table, it will tell you exactly what a tire is rated for at a given pressure.

EDIT: I should clarify my statements above, I’m referencing the 18” Transforce Tire’s that came on my truck.
