I have a question about sales codes

I understand that there are certain options (sales codes) that a dealer can add to a vehicle after manufacture. When the dealer does add a sales code will it show up as an option later when the VIN is run?
For example, my truck did not come with bed lights from the factory so I added the OEM lights. If this was an item that a dealer could add the sales code to their system would a VIN search by any other dealer show this as an installed option?

At trade in time owner installed add ons not only have no value, sometimes they can actually hurt the value of the truck. Dealer installed options could increase the value if they are somehow documented I would think.

The dealer adding a sales code will only show up in DealerConnect and in WiTech for doing software configuration reloads. It won't show up on the build sheets or window stickers.
