I have 2019 ram limited with technology group I have Blindspot monitoring and the rear collision zones. I know that in 2021 they added where you could extend that to the trailer and I think 2022 had some other features I was just reading about. It if I updated the Uconnect system with a software update from the 2021 or 2022 would I be able to get some of the features like extended Blindspot monitoring?

I'm pretty sure adding the Bling Spot Monitoring for trailers was discussed, but I cannot currently find it...
I *think* there was something about buying 2020+ Blindspot sensors, but it has been a hot minute.

But as far as 'updating' your Uconnect 4.5 it is impossible... you need to purchase the Uconnect 5 head unit.

It's not just plug and play.

Reach out to member @g00fy and @Jimmy07 if you're ready to take the plunge to UC5.

Some of the features are BCM dependent and may or may not work regardless of the UC system.

FWIW, I'm still looking for the info for adding the Trailer BSM to the 2019 trucks... I'm finding bits of info in different threads, just haven't had the time to sit and read through everything.

You can add trailer blindspot monitoring to a 2019 truck with a Uconnect 4.

You need the 2020 or later blind spot monitors, part#68442393AE. Then you need to enable the feature through alfaOBD which it's pretty easy to find, just search "trailer" in the app and you should find the options to turn on. They are, Cust.Set.Menu 2: Blind Spot With Trailer CSM Present, and Cust.Set.Menu 3: Trailer Length Blind Spot Enable/Disable CSM present. After you do those things it'll show up in your Uconnect menus and I believe it does work. However the 2019 instrument cluster is missing the prompts / Icons to alert you when it's actually working.

If you want it fully functioning with all the prompts in the instrument cluster/EVIC as well, you're going to have to find a 2020+ instrument cluster/EVIC (I would recommend 2021 or later since they are capable of even more features).

Thanks for confimring that @g00fy !

Looking up that P/N looks like the BSMs have been superseded with 68442393AD; 68548895AA (for left/right I presume)

So long as the warning pops up in my mirror, I think I will be happy for now.
I'll look into what other 'features' are included in the 2021 EVIC to see if it a route I want to go down.
