to get everything out of this radio you have to spend

200 for hot spot
110 for navigation
165 for the assistance stuff for remote start via the app and what not
and then what ever for XM.

that's for one year. what a joke. good thing ill just use android auto which does all of that for free. my trial ends December 10th. I may get the hot spot mainly for a alternative internet when out camping when one service fails to connect ill have a possible back up service.

I agree with you, I won't pay the uconnect or hot spot supscriptions. Nav is definitely not worth it, using android auto or carplay you get better nav and get to choose your nav service, can use Waze if you want. I don't know if hot spot works any better than a phone, meaning if you are in sketchy cell service will the hot spot work any better? Not sure.

I do have a single XM subscription. The way sirius/xm works, and this is a sad commentary but pretty much the same as the cable companies, you have to wait until your subscription rate increases (they always do once out of your discount deal), then call them to cancel. The call takes about a half hour, first they offer a discount, you decline, then they offer a bigger discount, you decline, they they check with their supervisor and offer something you can feel ok about, usually it's about a third of what you were paying. I've now done this several times over the years I've had XM and it works.

Where did you get a Ram that has a charge for the navigation?

Thats why you get the non nav radio and just use apple car play / whatever the poors with androids use.

Then call xm and tell them you’re canceling and get it for 7.99 per month. Repeat this step yearly.

Same

I have briefly considered the hot spot, since it’s AT&T and I have Verizon, to get some additional coverage in certain remote areas but haven’t pulled the trigger other than the free trial. I’m usually in those remote areas to escape connectivity.

I have a 2024 and the built in nav is free, has been free and even updating the maps is free. I let the trial RAM connect software expire and I think I lost navigation gas pricing, send to vehicle, real-time traffic, and a few other unused features. But the built in nav works fine and I did a map update for free. I don't want, need, or pay for any of the other "features"... other than SiriusXM, and yeah, I jump through their hoops once a year for the lowest price.

I still have the number saved to call xm, they offered me 12 months at 5$ a month. im going to ask for 2 years or im not subbing.

You can negotiate with them. I've had SXM for the last 4 years for $2/mo. Renews once a year for $23.99

From time time time just turn it all off and just drive.

Remember when an open window, the hum of the motor, and just going for a drive meant everything? Try it...that view out of the actual windshield is so nice. Chances are you won't get lost and you might just find yourself humming a tune.

No, I'm not that old.

Nope, not gonna do it. I'd rather have the open window/sunroof/slider but with tunes cranking, can't hear any engine hum so not sure it's even running. :D And the view out the windshield seems exactly the same with radio on or off. I also find my humming or singing sound much better when I can't hear them over the music.

Everyone in the vehicle wants to listen to their own music anyway, so I am starting to wonder if having a radio at all matters.

I completely agree. I have not subscribed to any of the plans since their trials expired.

Wish I didn't have them at all, but I get it. I wanted options that couldn't be had without it them.

If the hotspot provider is different than your current phone provider you will probably get coverage from one in areas not covered by the other. However, the truck does have to be on for the hotspot to work.
