I am looking to buy an adjustable ball mount and trying to figure which drop will cover me for most trailers in the future. I found an old post somewhere and it looks like the distance from the bottom of the receiver to the ground is about 23". Is that still the case on a 2021 HD at stock height with stock tires?

I found that an 8" drop will cover a range of trailer tongue heights. This is my '21 2500 Big Horn that measures 22 1/2" to the inside bottom of the receiver.

@dm6 I can tell you I have a 10" drop weigh safe, and using it for my Enclosed trailer I am using it at or about the 8" drop point to level my trailer and truck out. I will share I pulled my buddies trailer and for his I had to drop a notch or two, don't recall exactly, to level out. I will say this however, I am pretty particular with ensuring level trailer and proper tongue weight as well when towing a trailer loaded with Harleys, and or anything really, its just my thing. Would it hurt if it wasn't exactly level????

I've got an 8" drop for my equilizer wdh on my F250 with 19.5" distance from the ground to the inside bottom of the receiver (lowest setting). The same distance on the Tradesman is 22.5". Looks like I will have to invest in a new shank...

Maybe not... I would actually try things out with the new truck because it has coil spring suspension If it is a 2500 and it will have some squat depending on what you are towing. I invested in a new shank because I did not have the adjustability that I needed with the new truck.
