I just got an email from ram with my mileage, oil life, tire pressure, and so on. I just changed my oil at a small shop in a small town in central Illinois. Was this info reported from the shop or is big brother monitoring my vehicle? And if they are tracking me, how do I stop their ability to do so with my vehicle?

Looks like you have the Sirius guardian, or whatever it's called. Bilateral data exchange. The wife's 20 expedition has similar. Personally not a huge fan of that. One of the main reasons I opted for the tradesman trim with the bare ones 8.4 instead of a higher trim with the bells and whistles.
Still trying to find a way to disable it on hers. Hope you have luck on yours.

Location based data is some if the most valuable information that a company can sell. Don't for a second think that stellantis isn't collecting "anonymized" data to resell. Companies of this size don't get as large as they are based off of selling an item to an individual once every 3-5 years. They make thiers coming and going.
It's not tin foil hat stuff, it's literally a business model. One that I am still conflicted about as I had the opportunity years ago to get involved in towards the beginning.
Anyone remember the app "four square"? Look at thier market cap now vs when the app first came out. Thier data collection systems are integrated into so many of the things we use daily.
I don't agree with it for my own reasons, but it's hard to swallow the thought that not just one company, but almost every company we interact with is making money from every single thing we do, buy, look at, etc. That's my biggest complaint. I want paid.

Its scary what they can do.
Heres the worst part.
I got a I phone issued to me for work. No internet. Didnt connect it to my password protected wifi network at home.
Bring the new phone home one day. Its sitting on my desk. I turn on my personal computer that is connected to my password protected wifi.
Next thing I see is a popup telling me I need to finish setting up my phone.
WTF.
I have similar stuff that I will search on my computer, then when I'm on my phone, I get ads on facebook of what i looked up. I even get ads for stuff my wife looked up on her phone.
They are doing a lot more than you think.
Even if you turn off your phones GPS, they still track you by the cell towers your phone pings too.

They made data collection into a check-in "game." People were duped into playing along with their data collection program.
People don't realize how much their data, including location data and movement patterns, drives commerce. It boggles the mind to think about.

Yessir. Got to hand it to those guys, they were ahead of the game for sure. Now thier algorithms and data collection systems are used in everything from Twitter to weather apps. IIRC, the four square/swarm data mining makes FB and google look like child's play.

The data collection and tracking system isn’t to keep tabs on you. It’s to make your lives easier. As a society we have all made small decisions that move us that direction. If people didn’t like it, it wouldn’t sell.
Remember when we had to look at paper maps or the next stage when we had to use yahoo driving directions and print them out before we left the house?
Now we can be anywhere in the country on vacation and do a search, find a restaurant that is nearby and get the hours, pics, reviews and menu. As if it wasn’t hard enough to get your spouse to agree where the hell she wants to eat, at least you can now find a joint quickly.

Yeah, I’m pretty glad to not be flipping through that road runner book anymore.
It's not one or the other. You pay for something that ostensibly makes your life easier or better, and then they use it to track you, to sell your data, and yes, to keep tabs on you.
Their good intentions, if any, are meaningless. All that matters is what the technology is capable of. And whatever it is capable of, government and the tech world will use it for their purposes, your rights and privacy be damned.
Just remember that you've sold your privacy and your soul for some electronic conveniences. If that's a fair trade in your world, congratulations, Winston.

If that's the only thing you do with your phone, then you probably have nothing to worry about. But no one I know uses their "smart" phone to do nothing more than order pizza.
Laugh now, but someday, a lot of us are going to regret our foolish and slavish dependence on these devices.
Someone posted a link to an opt-out page that will, supposedly, keep Sirius or whatever is sending data to Chrysler and wherever. I searched a bit but can't find it.
Also, is there a way to not accept the Sirius 6-month trial subscription when picking up a new truck? I'd just as soon not have it active at all.

This is an interesting thread. I have Sirius satellite, Guardian, etc. and have never seen an update of any sort to my truck. I have not opted out of anything either. Everything, including the Mopar Dashboard Garage thinks my truck has 1 mile on it still!

It's not being paranoid in the least. That's like the statement, "If you have nothing to hide, what's the problem with cops showing up at your house unannounced and wanting to come inside?" Demanding as much of my privacy as I can has nothing to do with being cute. I know that gobs of personal info is blasted out and disseminated by multiple listeners. So should I send all my emails to the global recipient list? Of course not. I'll close down as much transmission of my stuff as I can. It's not 100% nor foolproof, but I'll make whoever wants to corral and analyze my data work as hard as possible.
