This piece has a screw behind it roughly where the X is. The piece itself pulls off with some effort. Then the whole thing including the vents pull off straight back horizontal toward the rear seat. I just pulled mine but didn't know about the screw. It attaches with 5 push in clips. 2 on each side and one centered in the top where its flat. The first pic shows the clip almost inserted. The other is what the clips look like. They are tight. I gooned it when I missed the screw. Disclaimer- I swapped to rear usb and had replacements, I wasn't worried about saving the originals.
