So the standard output Cummins is suppose to be more efficient with a higher compression ration then the high output. Has any got real world MPG differences between the two. Obviously the HO will use more fuel when you have your foot in it. But is there a difference in mpg just cruising

I have the SO Cummins, only have 2 fill ups under my belt, but the first, netted me a tank average of 19.4mpg hand calculated. Roughly a 60/40 highway/city mix. Second fill up was 12.7mpg half of the miles was towing my 9k lb 5th wheel. So far on this third tank I am averaging 17.4 per the evic, we'll see how it compares to hand calculating when I fill up again.

It doesn’t seem like this higher compression new engine is any better than the last gens on mpg so far

I think the MPG will be close to the same to be honest. First 600 miles I got 18.2 hand calc with my HO set up but I would bet the comparison will not be drastic. Its still a lot of vehicle to move around.
