My dealership preformed the recall to change out the High-pressure Fuel Pump CP4 and install the CP3 on my 2019 Ram 2500 6.7 Cummins with 130K on it. This was a task from all indications. I do have a problem I believe. I'm not sure. I didn't own it long enough before they did the change out to know if this is their issue. Anyway, I'm getting an idle "chatter" when I first start the truck. It only lasts about 10 minutes after a cold start. I live in a warm climate so cold is like 55F degrees, fyi. The truck smooths out after about 10 minutes and the chatter stops. The overall idle isn't rough other than a slight kind of lifter tick at startup which ends quickly. Anyone else have this issue after the recall on the high-pressure fuel pump?

There’s been a few reports of lifter issues, which sounds like erratic tapping at idle or more consistent tapping on high idle. Do you have service records to show what oil was previously used on oil changes for your new to you truck? Only 5/40 or 10/30 is approved for 19+ diesels.

Why is the recall a downgrade? The CP3 is a better pump all around.

No service records this truck was a heavily used work truck I picked up for towing a camper.

Google AI says this: A "raddle tapping" sound on a Ram 2500 with a 6.7 Cummins engine at start-up is most likely caused by worn-out or noisy injector tips within the fuel injectors, which is a common issue in diesel engines, especially when they start to age; this noise usually subsides once the engine warms up. I'm not sure. The truck has 130K on it. So the injectors might be failing too? The lifters could be too.

Google AI is stupid don’t listen to it

I've attached the Engine sounds here: Engine Chatter.mp4

You can view it and tell me what you think. This is the Cummins 6.7 2019 Ram 130K miles. Sorry the startup isn't clear it's a bit warmer too. The truck starts with a slight knocking and then taps and rattles and the end of the video you will hear is smooth out and run normal.

Im not hearing an issue, the engine adjusts injector timing as it needs to on temps so as it warms up it will sound different but from what I can hear it seems perfectly normal.

Looks like so far many of you think the truck sounds good at start up. Tomorrow I will take another video showing a very cold. 40 DEGREES LOL startup with the tick at startup maybe that could help. I REALLY appreciate all the feedback and thank you for understanding I'm new and still learning about the Cummins diesel engine and the Ram overall.

Very cold? Its -30°C here id take your 40 any day lol.

I'm grasping a bit here but... I'm thinking initial fuel trim/timing which is primarily defined by MAF.... but your MAF and it's learning was based off previous cp4.. Now with the cp3, there are going to be slight differences and likely exaggerated with cold start.. Until the MAF effectively relearns which from my understanding can take quite a long time/dive cycles.

The ECM should have been flashed to the new “tuning” for the CP3
