Hello all,
Been stalking for a few weeks and finally decided to join. I just ordered a new RAM 2500. This is my first RAM and first HD truck. We have primarily purchased this to tow our travel trailer.
Previous tow vehicles were a Chevy Avalanche and a Lincoln Navigator. The Avalanche was a great truck but could not tow for anything. We purchased the Lincoln which towed great but was totaled this summer. Due to the negative effects of the accident, no more Ford/Lincoln products in this household.
We considered a GM SUV, but the costs are just plane insane. My brother-in-law has a Ram 1500 with 300K miles and my Son just purchased a RAM 1500, so we decided to give RAM a try.
A 1500 could have probably done the job towing wise, but we really liked the fold flat floor of the Mega Cab for our dogs. We also figured a 2500 would pull any future trailer we wanted in retirement.
We test drove a USED 2021 with 14K miles at our dealer. It was a 2500 MC Laramie. The dealer would not budge on the price and I thought it was high. Then he asked when I needed the truck. I told him not until April 2022. He said he could build me a new 2022 2500 with all of the same options for less than the used truck. I laughed at him but he was right. We are getting a new 2022 model for $5K less than a used model.
Crazy times indeed. I'm excited to be here and learn more about RAM.
