Afternoon Everyone, Just a little intro here. Rex Arrington from the Blue Ridge Mountians of ol Virginia. Got my 22 Ram Bighorn 2500 4x4 w/ 6.7 Cummins little over a year ago. Got about 16K on it now and still learning and getting used to the diesel, so far, so good.
This is my first Dodge product, been a Toyota man for a long, long time. So far, i love my Ram truck. At 67, im hoping it will be my last truck. I have to admit, Dodge has really outdone themselves on the Ram Trucks. I know, I know, eventually something will try to change my mind, its built by Man, so i know there are little surprises along the way, HAHA, its life ain`t it? Anyway, so far, so good.
That brings me to another little point i would like to make. Being a life long Electrician/ Instrumentation Technician, i have witnessed quite a few things that will make a fellow scratch the old noggin. I had looked a long time for a 2012 Toyota Tundra w/ the Rock Warrior Package. It was a package that was offed and limited from 2011-2013. Just some things that were a little different, i have no idea how they came up with the name, i raced Jeeps once upon a time, believe me, that truck wanted NOTHING to do with rocks, anyway, i managed to find one and as luck would have it, it was perfect . SO, i began to do all the little things that everyone does with their new toy. New things that i had always envisioned i liked, and still do. All the normal thigs, leveling out, retractable running boards because God made me way to close to the ground, Lights, a new front bumper full of winch and lights, new chip to help out with that engine, it didn`t need much just a little tweeking. You get the idea. Now, mind you, this was not done in vain, i did research, had prints drawn up of what i wanted and how i wanted it. THIS WAS GOING TO BE THE TRUCK, and it was, it was a beautiful, very nice vehicle. All items were professionally installed by a CERTIFIED Technician. 10K air bag suspension with on board compressor, to handle hauling, etc.
Why am i telling you all this you may ask. When i purchased the Tundra, it had a bit over 10K miles. It took me about 2 years to get my plan completed. All was good. Truck was a beast. I loved it too!
Until.....Around 50K the occasional code would pop up for weird various things that made absolutely no sense. I had my Toyota tech check it out, no issues he said. Once mind you, i took it to a dealer i had purchased from and had tons of service performed flawlessly, They said i was crazy and was nit picking. Drive it they said. I had installed dual battery's, isolators, everything that was needed and required. Two Yellow top drycells. Going to work one night they BOTH shorted out, completely fried.
Conclusion: Even with doing EVERYTHING professionally, no half ass, mickey mouse stuff, i had overwhelmed a perfectly good truck that was not designed for what i had done. I know what you are saying, BUT this can be done, UNLESS you do it from the ground up. I traded the truck in for my Ram.

So PLEASE, PLEASE be careful with what you do. These new vehicle computers can have way too much input to them and they will act like a 3 year old on a bad, bad sugar buzz. Sorry for the length. Cheers
