Heater timer change

Wondering if anyone's changed or figured out how to adjust the timer for the WTS for the heater with AlfaOBD?
I've done the grid heater delete and switched the factory intake with the Banks intake horn and have noticed the truck seems to run a shorter warm up timer than with factory heater. I live in the north and the count down isn't quite long enough to get the engine to turn over. Curious if anyone else has run into this issue or has any knowledge on how to make the adjustment (if it's even possible).

The timer has nothing to do with the engine turning over, if you mean it wont start because it needs a longer heating cycle? Im not sure it can be done but @Jimmy07 may know a way.

This is why people should go with the BD fix over the banks and its sad excuse of a heater. I like banks products but that heater is laughable there would need to be at least 2 of them to equal close to the same amperage draw.

You have another issue if the truck isn’t starting. Even in sub-zero temps the WTS timer is much longer than this engine needs and is based on emissions more than engine starting. The only time my truck has run a full WTS cycle is with remote start, I bypass the timer 100% of the time otherwise and they just start.

The banks is a much smaller heat element, but still should be plenty for starting.

AlfaOBD likely can’t edit the tables, it’s part of the engine programming. When I tuned my 05 I cut the WTS time to a small fraction of the OEM programming and the truck started faster since the batteries weren’t drained from the grid heater.

He would have that crappy dh4 heater now which is junk really

Yes, but really not needed on these engines. It’s why banks gets away with mediocre parts.
Depends on his location and temps I need my grid heater if its not plugged in most days with the temps we are having.

I'm north of the 60th parallel. She gets cold up here and currently fighting to start the truck in -25 c and she's not having any of it. I usually keep her plugged in but I'm thinking the plug I used overnight isn't working cause we're struggle-bussing hard. I went with the banks to eliminate the killer bolt issue, but was slightly concerned the heater coil wasn't going to be adequate for these temps... and here we are...‍

BD eliminates the bolt issue too. But you keep the factory heater, if you plug it in -25 is nothing the block heater cant handle.

If you let it do its heat cycle then turn the ign off and let it run again will it start? Im not sure if the heater will cycle 2 times in these trucks but its worth a try

Yeah they definitely have a purpose, thou at any temp I think the programming is way too long.

That’s cold, but she should still be starting better than that. How are your batteries? Coldest I started my 5.9 without a grid heater installed was -25°F (-32°C). Batteries were weak and she wasn’t happy, but she started.

I’d guess the cord wasn’t working too, -25°C with a block heater should be an easy start without even waiting for the WTS.

Finally got her started, but it was definitely a struggle. The truck had been sitting for 3 days without starting and the heater was plugged in but the breaker had tripped and we didn't realize it.
When she's plugged in with the block heater, starts every time without issue.. but the block heater HAS to be plugged in..

We were able to get the heater to preheat 4 times in a row, but it just wasn't enough on its own to warm up the air to start ignition on its

Batteries are reasonably good shape.. they're not brand new, but also not on their way to the great recycling plant in the sky yet..

Ultimately, she just needs to stay plugged in when she's sitting overnight or definitely if she's gonna be sitting for a couple of days... Frustrating, but it's what it is I guess.
I definitely appreciate all the insight, gents!
