My older 1990-2000 trucks developed a haze that really limited light output.

On my Ram is there anything one can do to keep headlight outer lens from deteriorating and developing a haze that needs to be removed?

The sun will be the biggest contributor to lens degradation, so parking it out of the sun whenever possible will help, also using a PPF on them should help with slowing the aging. I have a 26 year old VW daily driver that had film put on the lenses at some point and they still look pretty good.

That haze is really a collection of micro scratches while yellowing is caused by UV exposure. A random orbit dual action buffer with a very fine polish will remove the scratches that build up over time. I wouldn't do it at every wash, but every few years or so doesn't seem to be out of line.

My 2003 A6 needs a refresh on PPF (just the hood leading edge and lights were done) and window tint, and a little PDR love. The Tint for the most part was done expertly by a (pro) family friend so I only have a few peel spots on the lower front passenger window.
