if so, what are the pros and cons?

There are several videos out now from YouTubers who have had fleet test vehicles. I don’t think anyone has received a production 23 yet. People are still waiting on their 22”s!

I see one right off the bat. They slide in and are NOT always at full elephant ears when driving or in a parking lot waiting for someone to take them out. I'm waiting to see if I can put em on my 2500 as a retro item from like infotainment... I got a Laramie during a four month period when they did NOT have the power "foldaway" mirrors and so was forced to get a "manual foldaway." I can, at least, get a power version of the 2022 mirrors WITH BLIND SPOT from infotainment. I'm waiting to see if I can get the new one. Oh, they aren't cheap...

I can already tell you that infotainment won’t be able to offer the 2023 mirrors as a retrofit onto pre-2023 trucks. At least, definitely not the power fold/power telescoping ones.
Manual folding/manual telescoping 23 mirrors shouldn’t be an issue retrofitting, except for the way the spot lights will operate.

I did an ask just in case. So, let's see what they say... You seem sure on "Won't." What do you know that makes you so sure? It could be obvious like where they mate with the truck is different or is it something less obvious like software?

They need a 2023 memory seat module to function, which means conversion harnesses running from the driver seat to the doors, but the main thing is a 2023 BCM will need to be used. In order to attempt to get a 2023 BCM running, they would need the whole truck (to transfer secret key from rf hub), so it’s not something they can just bench flash and bundle in with the kit.

Reminds me of a GMC 3/4ton I had with telescoping mirrors. Worked great, at least the first couple of years. Then one would work, or the other. If it was the passenger side that wasn't working, I'd have to get help to push and/or pull on them while holding the switch. It was at its worst in cold weather. I'm happy with my manual flipups on my Ram personally. Hopefully these Ram ones have those problems licked, but only time will tell.

Well, I got hold of infotainment and they are checking on this, likely as they see a potential market in the answer. They will get back with me here soon.

And I’m sure Doug from infotainment might email me asking my thoughts on it…
Good, the more the merrier...if...I can get the mirrors...preferably with the blind spot monitoring like the old mirrors. I'm ready to pull the trigger on those, just waiting...

Or buy parts from you...

But hey, if he or anyone can cobble a solution that is less than a trade in, there's probably a market for it.
Hopefully, nobody gets me wrong about infotainment. Doug’s a real nice guy, and he’s done me a few big, unexpected favors. If I can come up with a way to get this done for both the DIYer’s and something he can package and add to his lineup, I wouldn’t hesitate to let him know. Realistically, it’s going to be very expensive to pull this off, but there’s a market for everything.
