Hadn't seen this yet, overland rack

The problem with those panels (and all "flexible" panels) is that they have no airflow underneath them, and heat is the enemy of efficiency with solar panels. Normal "hard" glass panels are mounted so air flows underneath, keeping the temperatures down. Putting them on top of a super hot hood makes for a double hit. Also, the plastic they're coated with isn't as transmissive as glass.

Efficiency aside I'd avoid flat mounted flex panels because I've seen them burn the surface they're attached to.

Hey everyone,

I am one of the owners at Sherpa and just wanted to say thanks for taking an interest in our rack system. We have been making racks since 2017, starting with Toyota's and slowly expanding. I recently picked up a Ram 3500 after loads of interest for the full-size market. It's been a killer platform and enjoying getting to know the community.

I run anything from cargo cases, traction boards, my ham antenna, Starlink, and more on my rack. Usually swapping things out depending on the trip.

If you guys have any questions about the rack or my truck or frankly anything feel free to reach out!

We just recently released our no cab light option for the 19+ 2500/3500/4500's and we definitely plan to work on the 4th Gens next. We are currently tied up with our new Sport Line for the Toyota's as well as some bed racks offerings but as vehicles are available to us and time allows we will make progress!

If anyone is looking to order one, use the code "HDRAMS" at checkout. Figured I'd support the community with some savings.

Appreciate that! Will be keeping an eye out for a 4th gen rack..... Or if you need someone to test fit one and try it out let me know ;)

@Sherpa_Flemster can you give any measurements on how tall the rack itself is, how tall it protrudes off the roof? I know that might not be the easiest given the compound curve of the roof.. Some of the photos on your site I'm guessing are about another 1" higher than the shark fin antenna?

Crew cab model if it matters. Thanks!

Followup to my post.. I found on one of their YouTube videos it is 2.5" above the highest point of the cab (the center I'd imagine).

Unfortunately it's a moot point for me, I was really trying to work this into my build because it looks to be an awesome rack but it just isn't going to make sense for my particular application.

Here are some accurate measurements for you. The center of the roof is 2.25" from the roof skin. From the Shark fin you're at roughly 7/8".

Thanks very much. Unfortunately it's not going to make sense for me as I mentioned, but I really like the look of the racks and one may find it's way on to my wife's Jeep next year. I especially like that you are using the 80/20 profiles for the bars.

No worries, I'm at least happy the information is out there for others to see! I hope your build turns out awesome! Thank you for the kind words about the product.
