What is everybody doing for handgun storage when you're unable to carry? And by storage I mean when you have to leave it in the vehicle for a couple hours, not a 24/7 storage solution. I have seen the vaultek slider advertised with the seat rail mount, but haven't seen and real tested reviews.

I have a Lock'er Down locking safe in my 2017 Rebel. I will buy something similar for my 2021 75A Power Wagon I have on order.

It seems there are at least 2 brand names available:

Lock'er Down (says specifically that it is not for the Limited/Longhorn or Classic)
Console Vault

It seems they are both made for the full floor console. I'll have to do some more research once my truck arrives.

What about the hidden space under the middle front seat, where the CD player is?

Not many have that as 2019 was the past year for the cdplayer there and i think 2020 they got rid of the storage too

They do have a different model specifically for Longhorn/Limited consoles. I'll probably go with them for that reason but I'm worried about shallow it is. I had a Console Vault in the last truck and it was really good.

I don’t know bout vault..I carry everywhere, even where I’m not suppose to..out of sight..out of mind

The longhorn/ limited console is indeed shallow but i can store my xds in my lockerdown safe. Much prefer the older pre 19 truck console design. If you have the rear floor storage bins they also make floor safes which may be the better option for more storage and easier access.

consolevault and lockerdown both offer key and combination lock options. For my limited, the consolevault didn't fit as well leaving a scootch less room on an already tight fit. I returned it and went with lockerdown and got some extra items that were on sale or free at the time.

I use something similar to this. Not PW specific but I've used them in 3 different vehicles. Secure the cable around a seat frame and toss it under the seat. No permanent mounting. No lost console space. It's portable. When needed I've used it for secure storage in my bag on an overnight stay vs leaving it in the vehicle.

Can't carry everywhere. Even if you'd rather be judged by 12 than carried by 6 when it comes to carry laws, there are places that screen like the courthouse. Get called for jury duty and don't have a safe in your truck, your options are to go downtown unarmed or just count on your window glass to keep your gun secure.

I feel confident enough that the courthouse parking lot isn’t home to a bunch of vehicle break-ins considering it is a hornets nest of law enforcement. Pretty much can carry anywhere else that isn’t a govt office here in Georgia.

And other places such as post offices, most schools, hospitals or medical facilties,.....

K12 Schools except parking are definitely out if you're not LE, but since even parking at the PO with a gun is technically a federal offense, just keep the damn thing strapped on and concealed. Depending on locale, very few hospitals or med facilities outside the inner cities have metal detectors or wand so they also receive my pro bono self protection services. I used to go to my wife's labor unit all the time carrying. Hell, half the Nurses had their license but employees were prohibited from carrying.

Most people have common sense........at least I’d like to believe that in today’s world. If screening, fine, don’t do it. The screening puts the entity that does it, on the hook for your safety. Point was, carry concealed and don’t ask, don’t tell. That said, nothing is 100% secure, they’ll just steal your truck.LOL! My conservative views usually eliminate me from the jury pool pretty quickly. Been 25 years for me.......now I’ve jinxed myself.

I have a M&P Core 5" and a spare mag that is dedicated to the center console of my bench seat 24/7. It resides in a kydex holster. I've never had a vehicle break in. My priority is quick access while in the vehicle and unable to easily get to my in waist band gun with the seatbelt on. I do sometimes trade it with my M&P Core compact when I carry the 5" on me for training or under a winter coat. I've recently picked up a Safari Land holster setup for my gun belt that uses their ALS system. I might put an ALS mount somewhere in the truck.

When I have my rifle in the truck it's either laying in the back somewhere with a towel over it or in it's hard case. Just depends on the what I'm actually doing that day.

Glad to be in the most gun friendly state and county in the country. I just hope it stays that way. I'm in an area where open carry is pretty common and no one blinks an eye at it. I lived in southern California the last 18 years up until about 1.5 years ago. The hoops I had to jump through to own guns and have a CCW in California....

Sounds a bit like Prescott Valley. I know some folks in the area.
