Guess what quits working when you damage a wheel speed sensor cable?

Just about everything. lol.

CAD won't shift either, so you're 2WD. Lots of yellow icons and messages. :P

Skidding logs out of the woods by myself and drove over a strap repositioning the truck for a straighter pull. IDK how it got wrapped up in there, but it did. My fault.

I think I'm going to buy spares for the front.

Did it rip out or just cut the wire? Could you reconnect the damaged parts?

Kinked it. Broken internally, but the insulation was intact. So I don't really know if it's just a twisted pair inside or what.

I can live without the ABS system, but I'm pretty disappointed that it wouldn't let the CAD work. There's no reason for that.

BTW, I was in backwoods WV. Local NAPA didn't even list the fronts, much less have them. Had to wait for the closest dealer (30 miles away) to get one delivered from Va.

Could you hold down the traction control button and disable everything?

I believe it. I had issues setting my tire size with my procal at first (user error) and I ended up with no speedo. So, similar issue.

This led to a Christmas tree of lights on the dash accompanied by messages telling me all the systems that were unavailable including 4x4 and even the backup cam. I have a manual shift transfer case but the CAD was disabled so no go

Luckily I was able to clear the codes and start over and fix it.

What's CAD?

It's a useless complication that 3rd gen power wagons don't have. :p

The 4wd in my old 07 PW will always work. The only thing that can really fault out is the lockers and swaybar, but at least you'll have some sort of 4WD instead of none.

Hopefully, RAM will come to their senses someday and do away with it again.

Or maybe someone will produce a one piece right axle again like they did for the old vacuum CAD trucks.

I’d be surprised if someone doesn’t already. They make them for the Wrangler and Gladiator that use the same CAD system.

I haven’t looked to see if it’s vacuum or electronic but it’s probably some sort of shift fork under a cover plate. Wonder what kind of electronics would be upset if you opened it up and shimmed the shift fork over like we did on older jeeps with the vacuum disconnect.

Probably work fine for a long time
Likely so. All the JL Wranglers and Gladiators have them and no one talks on the forums about failure. The only complaint is from some of the *really* hardcore rock crawlers that the housing is slightly weaker there and a few have bent them. The D44 housing isn’t even close to the size and strength of the Ram HD axles of course.

It was a right front.

Really doesn't matter. The ABS system shouldn't prevent the basic 4WD system from working.
