I have the surround view camera system on my 2500. Interested in putting a grille guard/bumper on the truck, and I always have ran a ranch hand replacement on other trucks. Question is, does someone have a pic of the forward facing camera in use with a bumper/guard installed? I'm curious of how much it affects the field of view of the camera modes, especially the crosspath.

This would be helpful. Anyone have pictures?

Thanks John. Would you put a full replacement on again, or would you keep a new truck stock up front next time?

Those pics are from another member's truck. I don't and won't use a full replacement unless I damaged the front bumper and needed to replace it. I have a Ranch hand grill guard on my 2016 1500 and really like it. Still debating on my 2020 35000 because that front is so pretty and because they all restrict the front camera view.

Do you really use the front camera that much?

I only would want it for hitching up my plow even then i dont need it…. Just curious how useful it can really be

It's not a matter of how often I use it, it's a matter of how much the guards obscure it.

I've already noticed how much I like the camera views in tight parking spots and when the boys leave toys in my way in the garage. Just keeping a ball hitch in messes up the rear camera due to the angle of the ball. There is a reason that tailgate has the lip to get the camera as far back as possible. I can see the front having the same issue, but worse with the full replacement.

I bet other brand bumpers are worse due to the angle of the hole for the camera.

Plus having something else to wash.

I guess it all depends on how you want to use the truck and if it would bother you. Luckily there is no technical downside, it's not like the cameras are smart so they won't know any better.

You could likely move the front camera out toward the front of the bumper, it would be a different angle and all that but it may work.
