Discovered this site after having difficulties getting VON and VIN from my local dealer after placing an order for a '22 3500 DRW. Currently own a '14 3500 SRW Laramie Longhorn. We recently upgraded to a good sized horse trailer, so that's what inspired the new truck purchase. Had unpleasant experiences with the 68RFE trans in the '14, hoping to get better reliability from the Aisin.

Welcome farmersteve !
I am from sw Idaho also and have owned a 2020 ram 3500srw H.O. with the aisin and now a 2021 ram 3500srw H.O. with aisin. I don't think you will be disappointed with the aisin. I also have a work truck 2006 GMC 2500hd with Duramax and Allison . The GMC has 265000 miles on it now and has been worked hard on our farm and pulling trailers most of those miles. When I bought my 30' triple axle utv/ car enclosed trailer and built my triple axle 28' flatbed trailer for hauling wood I decided it was time for a upgrade. I loved the 2020 3500 but the cp4 scared me and they gave me what I paid for it this spring so I bought a 2021 to replace it. So far I think the 21 shifts smoother then the 20 and they both could pull all my trailers with ease . Obviously you will have a little rougher ride with the DRW empty but can haul even more than me without overloading. I gross 20k with my enclosed trailer and between 22-24k with my flatbed loaded with hardwood. Truck handles both great and shifts smooth even in town haul mode.

Appreciate the welcome, Cpschevy.

Was unfamiliar with the cp4 issues until now. Hope the current 6.7L CTD has been upgraded. When I test drove a '21 DRW 3500 with the rear air suspension, it rode noticeably better that my SRW 3500 did when empty; and light years better than my last 1 ton dually from 2004. So my '22 is coming with the rear air suspension. My biggest trailer is only 20k gross, so I won't be working the truck too hard. Really only went with DRW to give my wife (and me) some peace of mind when she's hauling her horses to shows when I'm not with her.

You made the right choice. I've also driven non-OEM air 3500's and the air trucks do ride nicer unloaded--I also ordered my new dually with OEM air. It's great!

Also, the 21+ trucks have the cp4 issue resolved in that Ram/Cummins went back to a CP3 based pump that they are calling CP-ISB21 or something along those lines.

Great to hear you recommend the OEM HD air ride. I have full air suspension on the MH, and like the way it handles varying loads. Hope the Ram system is as reliable as it sounds!
