Hey guys I have owned a couple Ram 1500 ‘s but had been wanting a 2500 for camper towing. We take about 7 trips a year. My 1500 had pulled my camper past 2 years which dry weight is around 6500lbs. However I’ve never gone farther than 1.5 hours from home and just knew I felt better about having a 2500 if I were to pull for a long haul. I don’t put a lot miles on. My last 3 trucks all traded around 2 year mark and most one had was 6500 miles on it. They were all new.
In order to get in the 2500 financially I would have to trade for a used one. I found one at my dealer. I traded my 2021 1500 with 6500 miles in for a 2021 2500 6.4 hemi with 43,000 miles. I also purchased a warranty with it. The truck was previously a rental and from my investigating seemed to rented long term by and engineering company. I’m checking it out the engine felt good and strong and it still felt good and tight as far as handling and suspension goes. No rattling. I didn’t see anything that looked like it had leaked at any of the main points underneath it. Carfax was clear on it. I’ve had it about a month and haven’t noticed any problems so far with it. Hope I’m ok and 43,000 miles ain’t a lot on. 2500 6.4 hemi. Of course being a rental I have no idea how it was driven but I would assume the maintenance was kept up on it possibly. What do you all think?

That truck should be fine, rentals are hit and miss but long term rentals are usually pretty good…. Besides it sounds like you dont put much millage on so you should be fine regardless

Congrats on the new truck.

I have a '21 PW and have had it almost 2 years now. 35K miles on it and no issues. And I have a heavy foot and enjoy my toys.

You should be fine. Enjoy the new ride.

I think it’s a good move on your part. I’ve been pulling our camper with a 1500 for several years - works well and towing numbers are well within specs. But overall payload capacity is iffy. So have a new 2500 on order. Having a little more margin is peace of mind.
