Since we are getting semi-close to my new truck getting built/shipped, I figured I better start ordering the little things I need.
My truck will have the 5th wheel/gooseneck prep package. From the look of it, I need to order the round base gooseneck ball, but does anyone have suggestions or favorites? I like the B & W one with the handle https://www.etrailer.com/Gooseneck-Hitch/Ram/2500/2019/BWGNXA2062.html (seems it would keep you from getting greasy when you remove it) but geebus they are proud of them.. $300.
Any suggestions?

I istalled the BW gooseneck hitch. I like the recessed ball, spring loaded safety chain hooks, and dont want to deal with those loops and a case with parts. tempImageLQuXJj.jpg

I plan to use the factory setup. I DO like the turnover setup though, but don't plan to change anytime soon.

Yeah, the B&W OEM set up is pricey, depending on where you get it, compared to the MOPAR/Curt kit. I use the Curt kit and have no issues with it. I had the B&W turn over in my 2500 Gasser and it was nice too.

Curt is nice unit. Safety chain hooks are notoriously known for being too robust and requiring larger hooks on your chains. But very nice. I couldn’t afford the b&w handle for the extra cash haha.

B&W is by far the best quality and look ! That is what we use on our 3500 with factory gooseneck/ 5th wheel kit. I have the b&w flip over ball in my Duramax and it works great except the ball gets stuck in there if you don't remember to pull it out and grease it every so often. Wish that GMC had the factory gooseneck prep kit back in 2006 when I got my GMC 2500 , I would have preferred it over the flip over ball for sure. But for the ball and safety chain kit definitely go b&w not the Chinese crap that curt is like others pointed out.

My Curt A25 hitch has been fantastic for the last 3 years.

AFAIK the hitches are made in the US.

They're also what Mopar and GM offer for their factory 5th wheel hitches (not sure on Ford).

That said, I prefer the Reese gooseneck kit - ball and chain pucks over the Curt offering. Wasn't going to spend for the B&W on the chance I'll use it once if ever.

P.S. half your truck parts are made in China. So there's that. Not a chicom fan by any means, just pointing out a sad truth.

I will be using the Andersen Bed Shaft, along with their safety chain kit and the AUH.

I use the Curt ball and safety chain attachments with the factory prep, no complaints. I use an Andersen hitch and in order to use the safety chain attachments I had to cut down the pins that lock in the attachment point.

I did see that safety chain attachment, but I wanted my chains to connect to a point in the bed.

Anyone have any issues with having a greased ball and the release getting nasty or gummed up on the Curt/Reese style balls?

Is that stall mats cut to fit?
Yes. I bought that mat probably 15 yrs ago. It's been in 4 different trucks. Made from recycled tires, two piece, and heavy. I've worked them into place solo a few times, but its more enjoyable with an extra hand. The guy who made them is no longer in business.

I’ll admit to not frequently greasing. But no issues before during or after doing so with my curt.

I like that I can leave it in 98% of the time and pull it out anytime I want without issue. (Coming from b&w turnover. Plus nothing has rusted yet. The b&w didn’t quite hold up this well in finish.

I have had fine usability from mine. Everything I’ve asked. I have not seen proof of it being junk or anyone’s examples. Only issue is chain hooks being overbuilt.

I've use the Reese setup for 7 years without a problem. I do remove it once or twice a season to clean it all up. I keep a ball cover in the bed and slide it over the ball when not in use so I don't get grease on me when I'm doing something in the bed.

I do like how that B&W operates that Motochris showed. I have to use a rag to remove the Reese because of the grease.

How does any of that help the OP who will be equipped with factory 5th prep? You just wanted to show off the bed of your truck?

lol.. amazing.

I ordered the B&W ball setup. Just seemed to be nicest and it'll be easy for the wife to remove and store as well without getting grease all over.
Thanks for the input guys!
