Getting new truck tomorrow - Any final inspection/request suggestions?

Long story short, I finally found a dealer lot truck that matches my needs. Its been tough finding a longhorn just the way I want it and this one has everything except for the aux switches. I can live with that. The truck was delivered today, I looked at it before their PDI process, and we worked out a deal. We go back tomorrow morning to complete the deal.

Anyways, I'll obviously give the truck a final once over after they get it all fixed up (DRW flares installed, cleaned up, inspected, etc). Any of you new ram buyers have any additional suggestions on what I should go through or ask for? I see some stuff on here about free oil changes through RAM CARE so I'm going to mention that.... They've also agreed to sell any add ons I want at cost so I'm going to order a depoyable bed step. I'm open to any other suggestions.

I had 0 problems but things i heard about was cab/bed alignment and tailgate gap spacing. I love the power deployable steps and oem mudflaps(-heavyones not molded) congrats on truck

1) make sure it doesn’t have any serpentine belt type chirp in the front end sitting at idle.

2) make sure that with the engine at operating temperature that you’re able to get satisfactory temps out of the air conditioning. I would even bring a meat thermometer to sit in the vent to make sure that you can get temps below 50 degrees. Look around at the air conditioning complaints on this forum for more info.

3) enjoy the new rig!

Make sure you have the 2.5" to 2" hitch adapter and the plug to seal the tailgate wires when the tailgate is removed. If you have Aux switches make sure you have the parts bag.

Don't be like me and assume the truck comes with a brake controller and buy the truck without verifying it has it. Luckily my dealer installed it at no charge after I threw a little hissy fit.

Bed alignment, tailgate alignment, belt chirp at idle, definitely AC (we're in florida), hitch adaptor (good save). no aux switches on this truck.

I already checked for the brake controller!

Brewbud, can you shed some light on the plug for the tailgate wires? I dont think I'll ever really need to remove the tailgate, at least not for an extended amount of time. Is this just a cap//plug for the harness?

Thanks gents. We're about to head out and hopefully seal the deal. I went from a f350 platinum to a raptor and am pretty excited to get back into a more capable truck. My boat is a handful for the little half ton and it will be nice to be able to pull equipment around without grabbing a work truck.

Check the brake fluid level. Here is the tailgate plug. It should be in a bag with the hitch reducer, front license plate holder and owners manual. You are correct, it is to cap off wires if you remove the tailgate

Check the top of your cab. Dealer was really surprised when I stood on the step and found FOUR dents on top. They fixed them, but did a real %*&XSUN^% job in doing so. Truck is great! My dealer SUCKS! (and I let FCA know that)

I have kicked myself two times now. Next time I buy a new truck I am going to ask if I can hand wash it on the lot. Most places have a wash bay in my area. I have been pleased with the way it looks and then gotten home and hand washed it and found scratches or a minor dent. Not much you can do once you drive off the lot.

My roof was dented too. Dealer said they would fix it but I decided to live with it rather than having some clown remove my headliner and end up with more problems.

Double check the radiator overflow tank. A number of them are coming with it filled to the add line, or a little less. I ended up having to buy some to fill it up properly.

Probably too late, but check interior fit and finish.

I had a few issues.

Pass side A-pillar trim panel was installed incorrectly (not hooked into dash on the bottom).
LR door panel leather panel was not tucked under door handle surround.
Some kind of goo on dash and seats.

I suspect a bad wipe down from windshield adhesive or some other sticky residue because I found the same stuff on the outside of the A-pillar on the paint. I didn't catch this until I had the truck home so I guess I'm stuck with it. Got it pretty well cleaned up but you can still see faint traces of it in the right light.

I also had bad cab/bed alignment that had to go back in to be fixed.

95psi in all tires. Seems to be a common issue that you think they would remedy.

Got the truck home. Everything checked out perfectly. The tire PSI was pretty high all the way around though, I'll drop that down today.

I almost caved a few months back and bought a regular laramie but man am I happy that I waited for the right longhorn. The fit and finish blows my raptor and my previous f350 platinum out of the water, and this is coming from a Ford fan.

Nice looking truck! Congratulations! I switched over from Ford as well. I have only had the truck a week but I am very impressed so far. I agree with you, the fit and finish is much better.

Congratulations! Gotta get out there and rack up some miles now!! My one year anniversary is coming up and I'm happy to report that I still love owning mine. Mines so quiet, sometimes I think I'm in some hi end luxury ride.

Yes, it is a cap for the harness. You can see the area if fits in after lowering the tailgate. After reading about it here, you will still only recognize the cap/plug right after you say "What the heck is this for?". The joke is there is a post asking about it here on the forums every few weeks it seems.

There's a sticky and they still come.

Hah, good to know.

Already going down the rabbit hole of tool boxes, window tint, hitches...... and I ordered some aluminum caps to replace the janky plastic filler cap the truck came with.
