Only option is 3.42 no 3.73 or 4.10 that is not going to go over well with some groups

The new ZF has an ultra low first gear ratio of 4.71.

Even with 3.42 1st is a lower combined ratio that 1st in the Aisin with 4.10’s.

16.11:1 (8AP1075 w/3.42) vs 15.41:1 (AS69RC w/4.10)

It’s the best of both worlds, lower cruising rpms and a lower effective 1st gear get moving ratio.
 
We have a 2014 Ram 2500 G56 Cummins in our family that I have towed cross country with the 1st gear ratio of 5.94. 3.42-1 on 35's. It revs at a higher 1,955 RPMs in final overdrive at the posted 80 MPH speed limits than the 1,891 RPMs of our 2024 Ram 3500 Aisin Cummins and 3.73-1 on 33's.

Towing with my new 2025 3500 honestly at around 14k towing 13’6 high brick
. It cruises at 66 67 mph at around 1500 RPM. So far no mechanical complaints tows as good as my Cummins HO I had my Powerstroke or my Duramax I just traded

Small correction, first gear ratio in the Powerline is 4.89. Stellantis erroneously says it's 4.71, which is the 8HP first gear ratio. See below for actual Powerline ratios:

1st: 4.89
2nd: 3.12
3rd: 2.03
4th: 1.64
5th: 1.25
6th: 1.00
7th: 0.84
8th: 0.64
Reverse: 4.25

So the reports of the 8AP1075 and 8AP850 having different gearsets is incorrect?

I think this new setup will be a winner. However, time will prove yea or nay. I just ordered a F-350 Tremor to replace my F-450 as I love the highway gears and power of PS (deleted), but this new ZF setup has me thinking of switching back to Ram. Just concerned with the latest set of changes done to motor. Loved my previous 4 Rams and went to Ford as my 21 Ram that I had on order was taking 7+ months and I needed a truck for that summer RV trips. I buy what makes sense and works for my needs. I don't blindly vote or buy one or other.
 
I was watching a tow video from fast lane trucks. They were towing 19,000 pounds up a grade out in Arizona. The truck stayed in six gear through most of the tow. I’ve always said Ram needs to have an eight speed but if it’s only applicable to when your towing and not need it any other time, I don’t see the sense if you’re out on the highway doing 90 miles per hour sure you need an eight speed unloaded. Also, the gas mileage was only showing 4 miles per gallon while doing the tow on this particular truck.
 
The exhaust brake on our 2024 3500 HO Cummins "is the best in the business" as was stated by TFL in the video for the 2025 Ram test. I like feeling it work. I watched their downhill review, only.

We live off of a 21.4 mile long continous grade dropping nearly 6K feet. Average grade is 6.2% for the 13.6 steepest miles near our home. Going down slow towing with full control in the right gears is quite important. It sounds like it's geared right for that. Truck run away ramps and brake check pull-outs aren't built for going up. So that's much less of a concern.
 
I drove 700 miles for my trade-in (2023 for a new 2025). I'll note that I got 21 mpg going (2023) and 19mpg back (2025). However, it did appear that hte 25 was improving in mpg slightly throughout the trip. I'm sure it just needs to break-in.
