I searched for anyone talking about this subject and couldn’t find anything. What gearing ratio should you have on 35 inch tires for a dually? I have the 3.7 gears but I’ve heard for you may need higher for 35 and up on tires.

It depends on what engine you have and what is your intended use for the truck?

I have 3.73s and considering a lift very soon. The shop says 37s look best with a lift, but I don't want to bog the truck down with big tires and 3.73s with no acceleration and horrible mpg. Will that be the case? There isn't a lot of info out there on these trucks like the 1500s!

running 37's will hurt mpg. regearing takes the leverage strain off the trans which is just as good of reason to regear as is the bit of mpg gain you'll get.

@elephantrider is correct in theory! However, I have run 37's" on two (now three) different trucks and re-geared one of them. I saw no appreciable gains in mpg in that truck (Ford F350 w/3.55 OEM) when I swapped to 4.10's. I ended up going back to the OEM gearing, because I was towing a rather large 5th-wheel. But as always...YMMV. Good luck!

agree.. you wont see much if anything at all. main reason is to move the leverage off the trans, which is the correct way to do things when moving up on tire size.

Average cost for 3.73 to 4.10? Roughly. My plan is once the factory tires run down replace them with a bit bigger tire. 33 but beefy with no lift. Hopefully that will get me through to 100k mi where I wont worry about warranty issues. After that definitely upgrade to 35 with 3 in lift. I know 100k is a long wait but dont want to void warranty.

Imop , i ordered the 410 rear end an not sure why anyone would want to order the 410 then change tire sizes but to each his own . i have a graph that shows the tire diameter an gear size an how one changes the other, pretty cool.

I do think the factory tires are to small but for me it's not worth less gear

Rich, I had the stealership put 35's on my PW before I even signed for it (PW's come standard with 4.10s). I couldn't figure out why Ram persists in selling PWs with those wimpy 32" Duratracs from the factory. ;)

I do hate the small tires, even on the hds. They just look so small with such a beefy truck, but I get it too because of gear ratio to tire ratio. It's just a personnel preference I guess to what each of us would rather have on each end of it

Once I’ve gotten through the warranty, I’ll probably up to 4.88 and get 37s just from what I gleaned from peoples experiences in the other forums I’ve been reading. Gotta find a tuner that’ll let my truck know what’s going on as well.

There is this little bit, what does the surcharge mean? Does that mean it had to be part of the original build and paid with the initial purchase?B532B7E3-BFD5-4AB6-B468-7021D92B18A2.jpeg

That's exactly what makes me to scared to do anything to mine until after warrenty period. Seams like they have always got a loop hole to exclude you. I'll wait
