Given the sensitivity of these trucks to fuel contamination, it’s shocking and I think irresponsible to deliver a truck without a proper fuel cap. I’m talking about the flimsy plastic cap that comes on the Cummins. Not sure about the gasser.

I have ordered a locking fuel doorjust to keep opportunistic vandals out but what I really want is something to stop contaminants from getting into the fuel tank.I’ve already seen water and dust on that green plastic cap. Just a meter of time for crap to get into the tank.

the cheap plastic cap from mopar is a poor design

genos has a locking fuel cap for $60

anyone have solutions that work?

You order the Def cap too?
Let us know what you think when you get them

Yes both. Will post some pics.

Received mine today - I ordered them Wednesday night! Super fast delivery. Now I only just need my truck to arrive at the dealership:D

Thanks for the link!!

That is odd. Here are my order details:

1GG-EZ45GDEFEZ-LOC LOCKING DEF CAP ('19, 2500/3500/4500/5500)$49.00
1GG-EZ45GLCEZ-LOC LOCKING FUEL CAP ('19, 2500/3500/4500/5500)$59.95

Good to know. Thank you. Last time I looked they didn't have any. Added to my wish list and showed them to my wife. Who know what Santa will bring!

I like the look of that Geno's cap but this one cost me nothing and doesn't need a key. Took about 20 minutes to make it .
It won't win a beauty contest but keeps the tank clean

BEM has the caps they are very well made- Got mine this week. Get both and get the tether. I believe they make Geno's Caps

I like it, could you give info on how you made it? Plus if it’s not pretty then you are way less likely to loose it!
LOL - I didn't think I would get any interest...

Start with 1.75" round of 1" PVC flat stock. Used a hole saw for that. 1" was too think so I sanded it down to about 3/4.
Sliced 4 gouges in it with an angle grind cut-off wheel.
Counter sunk one end of it so the nut would not push on the fuel flap on the truck.
The white part is FRP wall panel - 2.25" hole saw.
1/4 " Closed cell rubber foam glued to FRP-round and trimmed to size. 3M weatherstrip adhesive - great stuff.
Then stuck the Eye bolt thru with a couple washers, cut off the excess bolt and secured with thread lock.
I didn't like the look of the thread lock I got on the washer - it maybe had a bit of shrapnel from cutting the bolt - so I filled the gap with gasket sealant which is stable around diesel fumes.

Kept me out of trouble for a while.

Thank you for the info. Being a farmer I try to make/ repair things all the time. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t.
