Actually it was replaced today at 414,275 miles. During my pre-trip inspection I noticed a chunk of metal sticking out of the grease boot. Noticeable play as the cup was broken. Probably courtesy of I-40 from Kingman, AZ to Flagstaff, AZ, what a crappy example of our interstate highway system. New part cost $606 and the labor was on my back. Test ride went well and I don’t think I have to worry about an alignment yet, another thing this truck has never needed.

If you got 414,275 miles out of a tie rod that is really great service life.

Yeah east of Flagtown wasn't any better last time I went through there. Pretty sad. Any time I go to Phoenix (from the east) I go in through the back door from Holbrook. I rarely see I-40 west of Holbrook and it's fine with me.

Have you replaced any other chassis parts? When I traded my Chevy in on a Ram, all the guys on the GM forum were saying good luck with the front end. But it seems like Ram has stepped up their game on the chassis the past few years.

Mine is a Chassis Cab truck so maybe it's different but all the front end parts look pretty beefy to me.

Upper ball joints about a month ago, been pretty reliable. Next I have to replace the coil springs as they are getting soft. Hazard of my job as a transporter.
