Front drive shaft

Trying to follow the recommended maintenance on my truck I ran into a problem maybe someone can solve. It says lubricate front drive shaft for 4x4. Ive looked everywhere for the grease serts and could not find any anywhere. Are the 19s sealed? I’ve searched several online videos that have them but are older models. TIA

I haven't crawled under to look myself but a quick search indicates the HD 4x4 RAMs do not have a standard zerk fitting, it require a 'Lincoln Needle Fitting'

That needle fitting presses into tiny cap/zerk area, hard to see initially, but it’s there. Manual calls for grease at every oil change. Theres even a sticker under hood.

Yeah... I'm pretty sure the dealer didn't do anything to mine on the oil change... guess I'm buying a needle fitting!

I’ve got a picture of what I got, seems that you may have to turn the shaft to get to it? On the picture, this is the only thing I have found so far.

That is the epoxy they use to glue in the u-joints.

iirc, the requirement was done away with, because of the updated front shaft.

Where's The Grease

well I had a 2018 3500 Laramie with 4X4. I did in fact purchase the needle fitting for my grease gun and did use it on the " hidden fitting " in the front Ujoint. Easy job you need to do every time you change the oil. Fast forward to this week. My new 2019 3500 Longhorn 4X4 was waiting to...

The new Rams have sealed u-joints. The front cardan , double u-joint, has been replaced with a constant velocity joint. The picture below is for the old style. The grease fitting was for the ball and socket, not the u-joints.

Mine has some grease splattered in a pattern. Is this concerning?

I would keep an eye out for anything leaking prior and after driving, but chances are it may be a puddle of oil that you may have gone over.

Clean it. If it get oily again, time to get it sorted out.

It also has some lateral play at the CV joint, which I guess is not good. Probably need to replace the shaft (hopefully under warranty).
